Wow, the steam locomotive was actually pulling the train! Most videos on the return trip clearly have the diesels ramped up with the steam locomotive at idle.

I was one of the unfortunate souls on the overpass that evening. The dang freights just kept coming each time the engine moved!! LOL! But the steamer managed to make several appearances in between the intermodal containers, so we weren't totally blocked off.

I just saw it heading through Neosho, MO about an hour ago and it had 1401 and 4107 in tow. 9375 was not in the consist.

It's so interesting to see a Hudson on the mainline in a country where preserved steam on the mainline is primarily Northerns (there are other classes but we seem to have more Northerns preserved and operational than other classes). She looks so small compared to what I'm used to seeing on KZbin!

Does any train stop at Selma NC? That passenger station platform looks well maintained.

Yes, both Carolinians 79 and 80 and Palmettos 89 and 90 stop daily. 79/80 uses the platform on the connection track and 89/90 uses the mainline platform. Silver Stars 91 and 92, Silver Meteors 97 and 98, and Auto Trains 52 and 53 all pass by the station daily as well, but do not currently stop. The NCDOT also has expansion plans for their Piedmont service to run to Selma, Goldsboro, and eventually New Bern, but it's anyone's guess as to when or if that will actually happen.

@@fanster0676 yeah it usually doesn't generate the cool sounds that an actual exhaust setup (or deleting in my case) would do. Thanks! Currently been in the middle of a total drivetrain overhaul. Rebuilding the 4.3 and the 4L60E. Been missing my truck like crazy but it'll basically be a brand new one when she's done

All the old timers said HPT&D rr stood for “High Priced Ticket & Damn Rough Ride”! Ha! One of their original GE 70 tonners is restored and in operation at the nearby Denton Farm Park. Operates at various times of the year, but during the week of July 4th and during the Christmas season.

Assuming you're not in the salt belt, it's pretty easy removing the muffler and if you know someone with a welder just weld in some new tubing.
