In movable solfegge, the TONIC is "do". Chords have roots, scales (and modes) have tonics. European fixed solfegge uses "si" for B. (France, Italy, Spain...) To get really confused there's also Hexachordal Solfeggio, 6 notes starting at C, F, and G.

Nagaland is losing its green paper in terms of crores. The church houses experts in the Christian Faith not on economy. Its about time NBCC stops this hypocrisy. What about those undeclared open secret Reatuarants, pubs, Lounges, Clubs, Resorts etc...... I'm sure those places are not meant for salvation. Its where youngsters are losing their future and life. Its where young and old alike are carrying out all sorts of immoral activities.

Even if Liquor prohibition is lifted, the rich boot leggers will still remain rich. The church will still get its fair share, Boot leggers will still be there smuggling in illegal brands, hand in glove with the state execurionary and UG's. It doesn't matter, Lift prohibition or not, there'll be no change. But at least lifting prohibition will make us seem less hypocritical. One main difference though, lifting prohibition will give license to youngsters to get drunk and go wild in pubs, lounges and clubs. (The next issue underage drinking)

Solfege is sight reading music NOT with a musical instrument. How the notes are called with it is sung with its fixed etc etc etc its about the method used but aolfege in essence is reading music notation with your voice.

With the solfege system, you have to learn the position of the notes on the staff many different times why can the position of "Do" stay the same through all the keys signature....?????

I recently started listening to your classes on your channel. I'm a self-taught pianist for more than 20 years and I've never had a will and chance to go to music school and ''code'' every sound frequency I play and how I can actually wirte it down. But also, listening to you, your classes made me go everywhere and hitting random objects to see what sound frequency they make. Around my work, around my house. I hit glasses with forks, bowls, pots, tables, listening to birds outside and try to figure out the tone they produce. Your knowledge is a gift from God. Thank you. I was so happy when I hit my glass with a fork and figured out it produces major A note. And I checked it on my piano I was right.

Thank you so much for the very good video and explanation. I appreciate it. One question I do have (and I know it's been there in "Solfege" ) but notes which have ambiguous names depending on key (C#/Db for instance) is why not stick just to one sound for the accidental anyway , like "di" for instance is always the note between Do and Re? The key in the video is "C" ascending and descending, but names of accidentals change?
@selurusey4 жыл бұрын
3:25 Wouldn't that be "Di" or "Ra" because it has a sharp?

Epic Fail: It's Do-Re-Mi-Fa-Sol-La- SI -Do. Si, not Ti...
@nobodyknows47194 жыл бұрын
Si, would be an accidental. Since this is movable "Do" plus, Si Is the sharp accidental for Sol, not Ti. There is no raised Ti in a major scale. You might be thinking of a minor. If A major scale was in minor, then It would be F# minor. I hope this helps! davidkulma.com/musictheory/solfege en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Key_signature

The original solfege is do re mi fa sol la si do. Now theorists want to introduce chromatic solfege going up by replacing the vowel with the letter “i”, they further change si to ti to avoid the conflict of going up from sol to si. Why did they not use letter “u” going down chromatically instead of letter “e” then letter “a” from re down to ra. For example: do ti tu la lu sol su fa mi mu re ru do.

Your statement is misleading; there are solfege syllables for sharps and flats - for ascending and descending.
@MarkRaymondLuce6 жыл бұрын
Austria does not use solfege anywhere - not in schools, not in music gymnasiums, not in universities, not in choirs - not even the best choirs; no one in Austria who grew up here uses solfege, they don't even know what it is, and they are therefore afraid of it and untrusting of anyone (foreigners) who advocates its use telling them that it is the best way to help them sing better, sightread better, understand music harmony/music theory better. They simply do not want to learn a new and better way of doing anything - not just music. And I suspect that Austria is not the only European country that is ignorant of solfege.

Gasp! You mean, you MEAN Maria wasn't Austrian !!??

Most Germanic and English speaking countries use letters, plus most North Eastern European countries (Poland, Czechia, Estonia etc.). Most of Europe though uses Solfege; all neo-Latin countries, Greece, Albania, Russia and so on...Sanskrit, Telugu and some other Asian languages use syllables like Solfege, but they have their own. I think Solfege is a more original and aesthetic depiction of musical notes than using the first 7 letters of the alphabet.
