Hi! I am a St John Ambulance member. I hope my answer can clarify your hesitation! Indeed, the HQ of St John Ambulance is located on McDonald Rd in Central. However, as our ambulance service covers the whole of Hong Kong, ambulance depots & regional headquarters are set up in different regions. What you have seen in the video is our regional HQ for the HK island command. The construction of the building can be traced back to the 30s when the building was used as the first HQ of HK St John Ambulance. Back then, most settlements were concentrated on HK island. St John Ambulance served as HK's major ambulance service, with limited government ambulance service by the Sanitary Board. Only after the 60s, HKFSD established the Ambulance Command in providing official ambulance and pre-hospital aid service. The Regional HQ is still used for multiple purposes, including training, team-building & holding events. If you would like to visit the house, you may sign up for one first aid course on the St John website, the assigned location is Tai Hang/ HKI HQ.
