Dr. Arauco was my undergrad theory professor at UNC-Chapel Hill in 1985. As an 18-yo self-taught pianist, I approached music theory voraciously because she made it interesting and wonderful. Because of caring, patient instructors like Ingrid, Jim Ketch, Dan Huff, Francis Whang, and Barbara Rowan, I'm now a professor at Northwestern University teaching Black gospel music performance and history, and I've enjoyed a 40-plus year career as a composer and performer. I'm so grateful for her commitment to education, and I try to model that same commitment for my students.

I'm so happy to see you and Ingrid connected musically, although I only found this 5 years later! You really capture the spirit of the piece, and represent Ingrid's voice so faithfully. I am always so impressed by you. Thanks for the shoutout! 💕

There was some kind of Boulezian attitude in Berio"s mind when he decided to amplify his "sequenzas" (usually with a small string orchestra, sometimes with hors joining strings) to build up his '"Chemins"' series. This one comes from the Sequenza IXb (1981)
@JonathanHultingCohenSaxophone4 жыл бұрын
I love these adaptations of solo works. It was interesting to learn this before the sequenza, and then go back and forth.
