According to IMDB, Len was so unhappy with the TV adaptation of Game, Set, and Match that he bought the rights so it would never be shown again. Does anyone know why he hates it so much?

I read Blood, Tears, and Folly. Excellent book. Easy to follow even to someone unfamiliar with the leaders, weapons, and tactics of the time.

I have done some amateur study of the RAF and the 1970s in West Germany, including films and documentaries (Thanks to KZbin). It is a fascinating period, if I can say that despite all the violence. However, I must confess that I am no more certain about the reasons for rebellion on the part of West German young people in the late 1960s, than I was at the start of my study. This film seems to be the same. I like that it examines these so-called "sympathizers", which I have not seen so far in my study, but I am still in the dark about the underlying themes and motives from that period. I guess I have to keep studying.

Returning to this today on the 30th anniversary of John Smith's death. This, otherwise very good, docu-drama plays him poorly I think. It never captures his sophistication and urbanity. He'd have made a very good PM in his own right. But history is a practical joker. Sometimes, a cruel one. We are on the eve of another landslide Labour win. And I am no longer young. But I can feel some of the old excitement. A new day will dawn, will it not?

If one sees it objectively, the state was giving every opportunity to these people. They complained about prison conditions and were given too generous conditions and they abused their right to a lawyer by using them for crime. The state has a duty to protect people so it is absurd to claim those who explicitly seek the overturning of that self-same Constitutional Order are somehow protected by it to commit further crime. They were murderers, if only they were actually executed (Also, we know they committed these crimes.).
