I lived a few miles north of where that pipeline broke. The man I worked for was a member of the Sissonville Volunteer FD and informed me of the incident. There were 2 houses close that set it off when it broke. Another house that was recently built across the road sustained damage from the inferno. Fortunately no one was home when it happened. I might add that they had trouble trying to shut the pipeline down.

The pipeline was 20" in diameter. As I recall a 24" one was close by. Incredible pressure in those things. I met a couple of folks months later that had just passed by the area when it blew behind them. Scared them to death. I live in the area. Years before there was another one that blew but in a remote area. Scary stuff.

What you are hearing is the sound of a gas line. That’s why there is lots of heat in big flames.

those people are straight from hollywood CGI land, cause trees don't explode in fireball like that. How can people be filming and not know what a gas explosion looks like compared to forest fires we all have seen too much of both. FYI its making loud venting sounds, which means a gas tank or gas line.
