For Lord of the Rings (and The Hobbit) I have these performances by Rob Inglis (bought many years ago). Mine is the CD version. Rob does an excellent job. My only misgiving here is that given the CDs can get scratched I do have some issues with this in a few places and this has impacted the ability to rip it without the result being affected.

So I have rants about the show myself and it’s not the greatest shit since slice bread like a lot of people think and I did hate at the time when people overrated it. The thing is I don’t hate the show, I just see it as an ok show for mild entertainment and to keep busy with something you know ? Trust me the last I want to do is defend this show but my flaws with it are really different compared to yours. As I explain, I still want to let you know I respect your option but I just know to point out what you said you didn’t like or were confused about. But before that I just want to repeat that I don’t usually defend this show and I’m not a my hero addict like a lot of people. So when you talked about the story not being good at defining it’s characters, i kinda think it was put out there very clearly. At least just me because of what I’ve noticed. The main village Tomura Shigaraki, has a glove on his face plus on the rest of his limbs and such because the show puts it out as the gloves reminding him of his father or All For One. It’s like his own way of feeling comfort or like giving him a safe space. Maybe so he doesn’t feel alone. As we’ve seen he freaks out when ever the gloves are knocked off by someone or something. I don’t read the manga so I don’t actually know his connection with whoever’s gloves those are. I assume those gloves are for from All For One but he also calls for his father when the gloves falls off. As I remember, All For One took him in as his own so I know that couldn’t be his real father but shigaraki sees him as one. Also before that he was given up as a child which lead him to loneliness and could have been what gave him psychological separation issues when he finally found someone that would take care of him. He seemed to be determined to do anything just to make sure All For One would stay safe so he’s never alone again. That’s a good reason for him being desperate to finish his goals for All For One. He has shown that he doesn’t want his one father figure to disappear. Every crazy mentally deranged character always has someone on their mind. In shigarakis case, it’s All For One being his one best friend that he sees him as. I’m pretty sure those gloves were actual hands that All For One could manifest and then detach from his body so it’s one of his many quirks. Shigaraki keeps them on his face and limbs to feel that All For One is always there with him. So to define Shigaraki, he’s a person gone mad by loneliness and does anything to hold on to hold on to the one person who who gave him the attention he never had and he knows All For One won’t just be sitting around doing nothing so he is determined to stop future hero’s that might have the chance off taking down All For One. Just to clarify I don’t feel like the bond Shigaraki and All For One have his touching exactly. I know All For One is manipulating him. That’s how all villains get their followers by finding them hit rock bottom and making them feel like they have another chance at life. I see that time and time again. For Midoria, like you said, you noticed that he’s been defined but hasn’t been defined enough after learning his power to make it his own. Do understand and when I say this it goes for every character I name off. In my experience with long running shows like this one, the story has always took its sweet time to explain every character at their own time. The most common answer I can give you for why he hasn’t been explained as much as when he first started is probably because it’s going down the route where he’s just a high school student and he’s still learning. 😅 fighting enemies is what will help him decide how he defined himself after become a hero. The most obvious thing about him is having his goal to be the best greatest hero like his the person he admired all his life. He realized he had to make a second goal to finish what All Might couldn’t after he learned about the greatest known threat which is All For One. I personally think his character development is ok. It’s not the greatest but it isnt really a poorly made one either. As for bakugo, you thought he was unnecessary and unlikable. I’ll point out first that yes he’s different from other rival made characters. His attitude in my opinion is absolutely necessary because of the fact that characters like this aren’t common for the role he’s supposed to play as. I personally like that he’s a violent type of character playing the good guy. It’s a good element for him in fighting scenes or for comedy. Bakugos goal isn’t clear to a lot of people I’ve noticed but I can explain it. Him and Midoria admired the same person growing up and wanting to be like him. They both have different ways of expressing that same goal but there definitely was a flash back showing that and bakugo clearly does say it with optimism in his voice. Bakugo is a guy who doesn’t like to lose. He wants to be on top. The fact that he got more violent and frustrated over time is do to him realizing there are other people out there that are just as special or even more special than him. He still wants to hold on to that type of ego of being the best no matter how much he opens his eyes and sees others getting as good as him. He hated Midoria a lot because of the grudge he held onto as a kid when he wanted to be the one everyone looked up to just like All Might was to him. Every time Midoria did something to help bakugo out like in the river when he fell and Midoria offered to help him back up but bakugo took that as an insult. He felt like Midoria was basically telling him he needs to be looked out for because he can’t do everything on his own. For him to react that way when someone he thinks of as beneath him is trying to assist him, shows how he defines himself. I’m fine with him being this way because the way he acts is a real attitude some people have. He’s a good example of people who can’t control their demons while at the same time, want to have good intentions but just can’t express them the right way. It slowly ate him up knowing that one guy he truly was beneath him the most was getting stronger all of a sudden. As much he didn’t want to accept it, he new Midorias power was rivaling his own. When he figured out that All Might was helping Midoria to be the next number 1, he took that as All Might himself rejecting bakugos goal. He felt like everyone was against him and to feel better he wanted to fight back and prove he’s better than anyone who thinks of him as a weakling. Realizing his idol had chose someone else weaker than him even after his determination to show that idol how hard he’s worked, was like kicking him when he was all ready down.
