I think the velocity of the steam ejection and the steam temperature (super heated steam) also play a vital role in the triboelectrification occurring.

Excellent video capture, im delighted. Can you tell me what was the humidity (%) I think this can be achieved in two ways 1)The steam generator must be sufficiently isolated from the ground, or 2) You have to be isolated to gather the charges which is the case here in the video.

Thank you for your hard work putting this together. My own pictures were very limited. I graduated in 1974 after two years aboard te Quest. I was fortunate to be able to tour te Vega as the Aquarius when she was here in port for the Olympics. What a change!

The steam is separated H2o molecules, or at least they are furthur apart than when less energetic as in water. some slightly positive some slightly negatively charged, as they pass the tongs connected to you this attracts the like/ repels the dislike charges of the water (steam) as doing so piling the charge up on your body until you discharge the static or equalise the charge you've created by earthing it on the machine. Having said that I think the charge on you would have been a positive one as the machine would have attracted the negative. Similar principles to a lord Kelvin's thunderstorm I believe here. I beleive this is the mechanics of lightning as said I agree however I disagree with the cause of the separation. It's not convection it's our earth's magnetic field separating the charges.

Thank you for your sharing. May I ask if this equipment can be used to test fluorescence too?
@ScottRoweGG2 жыл бұрын
It is a high energy ultraviolet light source, but I don't know the wavelength. I would check with the manufacturer, Gem Instruments at GIA.EDU and thanks for your kindness and comments.

@@ScottRoweGG Thank you so much for your reply. Mr. Rowe. I have a diamond the Gia report says none fluorescence, but it shows strong blue under ID 100. I don’t know what happened.
@ScottRoweGG2 жыл бұрын
@@maggiesun5510 I wouldn't be concerned. The diamond grading reports are for long wave UV only. Don't he surprised if GIA doesn't give you the exact wavelength of the probe as it's their intellectual property. As a side note, when I write appraisals, I reference the fluorescence observation is under long wave for this exact reason.
