I'm amazed at how robust that cannister is - it survived a good chewing by a very persistent shark!!!

Hi Chantel, thanks for a very interesting presentation. I am an ex marine scientist now retired in Poortjies and regularly flyfish the system (often moving around with a red kayak). I am part of the ORI fish tagging program) and it might be interesting approaching them for data. For example, one of the garrick I have tagged was recaptured in Port Shepstone while others were recaptured at the same spot a few weeks later. I was just wondering what bait you use in the bait bags as that might to some extent determine the fish species seen on the videos. Also, just to mention that on a few occasions I have come across largish sharks which I assumed are spotted gulley sharks. There are definitely some interesting species that occasionally enter the system, such as juvenile Big-eye Kingfish and Natal Stumpnose. Hope to meet you on the water. Regards Niel

Dear Dr Whitfield St Lucia has an arid amount of no take zones. Not only through MPA's but also through areas void of human activity due to geographical and accessibility... Very very few meters are exploited at the moment.
