There is USB C with a single or double screw. (like VGA, Serial, pararel etc.) Which makes it the even more secure than type B. the real reason would definitely be that C is way more complicated to do propperly.

wears out faster, and harder to plug into other items faster, also takes up more space is not reversible and cannot do high power delivery

@@glowytheglowbug That is not true, USB type B is reversable, it's just not supposed to be. I know because I fried my blu snowball mic by mistake, they where using quite a sloppy usb B port.

Hi, have they done a mini type B with latest protocols but broader pin reliability for basic signalling lines incase of damage? I thought up a more reliable alternative to type C and micro before Like a head phone jack, but better. Such a thing can have a clip or screw on cover to avoid disconnection. The issue is, for people in industry to go to standards body and say they need a standard for this. The socketed, clip in and screw on with lock option, gives four emergency detach options for extreme environments. With a lock option for clip in giving an option to replace screw on, but keep screw on as an environmental sealing option. It is very simple, if we think better and nobody ignores.

what most people think of as mini USB and micro USB _are_ USB 2.0 type B cables, just with a different form factor. USB 3.0 version of type B (the larger one) also has a micro connector as well, but it isn't any more reliable than "old" micro USB cables. sounds like you're thinking of something similar to a displayport connector?
