You do crazy things, but you're always so chill about it, whether studio or live. You honestly make it look easy where others seem to be working their asses off to achieve the same results. :D

Really gnarly tone. Are you using a Dean Costello HMW? In the music vid it looks like its paird with a Vh140c? Cheers
@ESCUELAGRINDАй бұрын
On the LP we are using a Dean Costello/Ampeg Vh140c however I’m using Line 6 Helix Native w/ engl and mesa amp presets w/ greenback cab sims to play-over the master.

To simplify the sheet music, you can always write the 4/4 3/4 alternating as 7/4. :) But it makes sense to break up the riff depending on whatever is easiest for you to keep track of. One person might consider a riff to be short and 8 repetitions but someone else would consider it a longer riff of 4 repetitions. Great tone. Drop A is my lowest tuning. Anything lower I think is a bit mushy and fights the kick and bass in the mix. It's also a relief to see sensible metronome speeds. I don't know how many younger players I see who can't count 16th notes (1 e and a) so they inflate their bpm numbers to ridiculous counts (300 bpm and such) so they can keep everything 1/4 and 1/8 notes. The click gets distracting for me once it gets above 200 or so because the pockets are so tiny they are impossible to hear and feel. I always use 16th and 32nd notes for the basis for playing fast in metal and reduce the bpm through smaller subdivisions. I'd rather slow down and lengthen the pocket and just make the subdivisions smaller to make up the difference. Feels the same and sounds the same, just reduces the need for a constant fast click. I think a lot of people have trouble reading busy looking sheet music so they up the bpm and note values so less things are beamed into a single beat. Once again, great stuff.
