What I will say is that the Skoda 27E is a very interesting looking locomotive. If only there were locomotives like this in the US.

Thanks for the interesting shots. However, the title is not correct. The museum you visited is an Eisenbahnmuseum (railway museum), not Straßenbahnmuseum (street car / tram museum). Also note that the German letter ß in Straße is not a B/b but a special form of s (originally sz).

In June 1970, I was in Hof, on the East-West border, watching DB steam locos working. 100 miles from this. Those engines are beautiful!

Very interesting and lloks like high voltage AC by the length of the insulators. I notice pantographs mounted at and angle and wonder what these are for. Could it be lack of tunnel clearance and so a contact wire mounted on the side of the tunnel?
