6.2 is not 2-stroke. It’s a 4-stroke indirect-injection diesel

I had an 85 K10 with the 6.2L diesel. It was good on fuel but a total POS and wouldn't pull a greased string out of a cats ass. I remember we were in the Ozark hill around Branson, MO and my friend passed me going up hill with his little Ford Ranger while he was pulling a 17' bass boat....lol....mind you I had the diesel toe nailed.

Never use ether if your glow plugs are working. Make sure they are disconnected first.

I had a 86 GMC 2500. It the glow plugs were good it would easily start in -30 degree weather even without using a block heater. No need to cycle the glow plugs the glow plugs the second time. I never used ether. Great little truck.

Cody Scharffbillig _ May I recommend, mixing 3-6% gas = into diesel tank in deep minus cold wintertime. f.i.:(-minus -28-Grade-Celsius) Same is used by Nato-vehicles as =Winter-diesel (Warning - not *Too much - because danger - burning) - So it's cheapest - not necessary spend money any other silly experiments as Third Persons talking. Since Dekades we uses for vehicles, hunting in East-Europe. Learned by experiences Armed-Forces-Germany and -Russians.... - and / or .. be sure 100% = take out the 'Batteries - storage overnight in your house. Gentleman, thanks for Attention, Greetings from Germany, wishing You health and Luck.

In the colder weather,I usually have dealt with the Glow Plugs or the Solenoids if it has one hell of a start up after a few times, main reason why I always get a Block Heater.Either way,I love these CUCV's,I have owned up to a dozen M1008-M1031's at this point one by one. These Trucks are the reason how I found out and got a favor for the N/A 6.2L.

Probably want to get those glow plugs replaced. I have an M1009 and it used to have real hard starts even in our "cold" california weather. Pulled them out and tested them and found 5 of them dead. Just went and replaced all eight and it starts up very quickly now.
