Well, feeling how it began to shrink and eventually disappear within 2 months was so liberating. I followed the steps I mentioned, and within the first 2 weeks the bloating was gone. I simply go'ogled Tilly Strankten's Ovarian Cyst Guide and it's like I hit the feel-good reset button lol.

Treating without diagnosis seems to be the standard of care in Gynecology still in these modern times. Why should this be acceptable?!

Thank you Hyster-Sister for raising awareness to how OB-GYN practices can be biased against women without a uterus. It's sad but so true. They push you down this path to get the best "outcome" but then ignore you after.

Thank you for bringing up the need to say no - I struggle with this often, but getting better! I don’t have endo (that I know of), but have been dealing with bilateral frozen shoulder for 3.5 years, which at times behaves like a chronic illness. I often think of you as an example when I really want to say yes, feel guilty and anxious that I have to say no, because it will be too much. I think, Melissa says no when she needs to, and I’m never upset about it, our friends aren’t upset about it. I can say no when I need to. Even though it still sucks😂, knowing that puts it in perspective. Also the importance of having a supportive partner can’t be overstated. I’m fortunate that my partner encourages me to manage my workaholism and reminds me when I’m not resting enough.

Thank you love for the thoughtful reply. So much love to you and frozen shoulder has been shown to show up in perimenopause, which is just like having a chronic illness.

I like to think I’m a fairly intelligent woman. I’ve had more than my fair share of health issues since I could walk. I’m now 1.5 years away from the big 5-0. All that said, I still feel a cornucopia of emotion listening to this! And those emotions run the gamut from “See! I’m not crazy! This $hit is REAL! I’m not some cracked-nut job” to “thank you god I’m not crazy!” to feeling a literal weight being lifted and being able to take a deeper breath just hearing another woman share her story which also happens to be my story! I used to think that those in healthcare and medicine really were a hair away from super heroes. Right I’m, you want to know what someone in healthcare has to do to get my label of ‘super hero’ or ‘miracle worker’? To have them look me eye to eye and speak the words “I don’t know”. “Ms Elizabeth, I don’t know what’s caused you to have an open wound the size of a baseball on your leg for 12 years solid”. “Ms Elizabeth, I don’t know why your body swells and retains a hundred pounds of fluid in under 72 hours”. “Ms Elizabeth, I don’t know why you experience extreme pain simply because fecal matter moving through your large intestine and rectum, regardless of all other factors.” “Ms Elizabeth, I don’t know why it feels like someone literally ran a sword into your anus, through your rectum and through your intestines to the top of your pubic bone simply because you need to take an everyday, regular ol shit!” Having anyone in healthcare who can have the spine and ethics to look me eye to eye and say “I don’t know” instead of patronizing me, ignoring me, gaslighting me or acting like I’m stupid or crazy…. That’s my hero in healthcare And that is such a fu€led up reality! Yet here I !

Thank you for sharing your story. I can relate to this. The first time I had stabbing butt pain, I had no idea what was going on. It felt as if I was constipated, but having the worst cramps of my life. It was like I needed to pass gas but couldn't. The stabbing pain was soooo bad . I turned white, I was sweating, and I couldn't move. I literally just had to lay there and take it because I won't take meds. This still happens from time to time. The nausea, pain, cramping, tiredness...... unless you've been through it, you can never truly grasp how much it can interfere with your entire world. I commend any woman who's fighting this battle. It seems the older I get(now 44), the more gnarly and weird the symptoms.

Great video both ❤ It's really scary how much this story reflects so many UK women's experiences. Surgeon's have zero filter or bedside manner. I had surgery in 2019 and have yet to this day meet that man. Every follow up appointment and subsequent appointments have been with different surgeons every time. Its infuriating having to start fresh at every appointment. The nhs is completely broken and unfortunately endo patients are some that suffer the most. Stay well everyone ❤

How amazingly Ellie did telling her story❤ Scarily she could have been telling my exact story. I had my appointment with an NHS excision specialist last week after waiting 10 months. I was added to the waiting list for surgery and told it is a 2 year list. Currently looking into private but due to needing multiple surgeons i don't know how feasible this is. Its tough times for UK patients at the moment. Thank goodness Ellie has seen an improvement in her symptoms. It gives us hope. Thanks as always Melissa for your amazing podcast❤ ❤❤

I am so sorry to hear this- where are you located? There are a lot of very helpful Facebook groups out there since everyone has different symptoms - a great place to ask questions and find people in your area. There is one Nancy Nook: facebook.com/groups/418136991574617 great one and they also get feedback from patients on doctors that may be in your area that understand Endo. There is another group as well: facebook.com/groups/289078084538377 And this article may help in regard to a hysterectomy. nancysnookendo.com/hysterectomy-and-endometriosis/ "A hysterectomy is not a cure for endometriosis; however, many people with endometriosis also experience problems with their uterus or ovaries (such as adenomyosis, fibroids, ovarian cysts, and other conditions that can contribute to chronic pelvic pain) that could benefit from removal of the uterus and/or ovaries. For example, adenomyosis and endometriosis have been found together anywhere from 21.8% to 79% of the time (Antero et al., 2017; Di Donato et al., 2014; Kunz et al., 2005). Both endometriosis and fibroids have been found together in 12-26% of patients, although one small study found both in 86% of the patients studied (Huang et al., 2010; Nezhat et al., 2016; Uimara et al., 2011)." I had a laparoscopic surgery on 2018 and supposedly doctors did not find endometriosis or adhesions, but they did find a cyst in my ovary and a fibroid in my uterus. Now in 2021 I went to emergency room because my belly button was bleeding and i was diagnosed with endometriosis and I felt some relief after so many years, now every month my belly button bleeds, now Im in the journey of looking for a doctor that will do surgery but I don’t have private insurance so I don’t know how that’s going to end up. I live in pain every day just like a week I will be fine. I have no children because my babies passed away and I don’t know if I would be able to have babies.
