Good call on increasing the guage wire size, making it bigger, that makes a difference in low voltage applications.

Hello, I'm curious about something I've seen this item on and your Layout for several years and it's looks like a little cage or something with a cord attached to it. Does it go with the Layout and the what it do? Thank you for your time Sincerely Allan

Nice pick up! Yes, that is a conduit for a fan, to suck out smoke through a filter underneath the table. The wires and cage are now hidden by scenery, and the smoke can filter out without anyone noticing.

@@CDLionelTrains Great!! Not to worry though, I think since the A is new, a replacement bell could have been purchased and if Lionel didn't have it, you could go to a company called Precision Scale Company and they'd probably have it. BTW, why was the A doing all the smoking while the y6b had no smoke at all? I believe the Legacy y6 would rival the A in smoke output.

Why would aluminum coal hoppers be rusty?
@CDLionelTrains
@CDLionelTrains Жыл бұрын
Aluminum does rust, but in a different way than steel. When exposed to oxygen, it forms Aluminum oxide, which is different than iron oxide. It doesn't flake off like iron oxide. However, Aluminum does and will corrode, which actually looks white. In terms of the coal hoppers, coal is made up of sulfer, oxygen, and nitrogen, which, when mixed with water can create sulfur dioxide and nitrogen oxide, which can lead to rust on steel. We are assuming that these coal cars steel.
