I'll preface this comment by saying that jokes aside with the funny dub which is certainly a product of its era, this is important character development. Poor Zero. You honestly just want to give him a hug after all of this. The wild, fun, hardcore Zero theme in sky lagoon is now somber and heartbreaking in this closing scene, representing how this hurt and changed Zero. Since X5 was considered to be the final game or intended finale at one point, and Zeros last thoughts were him seeing Iris and saying he was sorry to her again shows how profoundly her death impacted him. What Sigma did to X, Zero, and the Hunters is crazy. Enough to give even the strongest people PTSD. I would mainly even say that Dr Wily is the worst offender of all. Even though robots show it a lot of sentence and the beginnings of free thought and emotion, Wily had little regard for them and talked down to them throughout. I wonder if he ever knew that his actions in creating the Maverick Virus would cause this much pain and suffering.

The thing that activated Zeros stagger was the Mother Elf. - 🍺 Thank me later That radical zero is who he is, hes protecting the Mother Elf in his body. The mother elf pushed the maverick virus out of zero and zero went from Mother eof host and maverick virus host into just being a host for mother elf, this is seen with future X who traps the dark elf.

In fanon, there were rumours that it was Zero that killed all of the previous Megaman characters.

I love the somber endings/music of both characters…it really sets the tone for what should have been the finale of the series.
