Imo this was Sunohara at his peak. But on rewatching the scene, I can't help but feel frustrated by Mei and Tomoya (and Nagisa by association) who are trying to get Sunohara back to the soccer club. Mei is 14 so she might not understand the gravity of the situation but I expected better of Tomoya who had seen Sunohara's frustration these past years. I understand that Mei wanted back her reliable older brother but why was she trying to be his mom instead and dictate his life? Sure Sunohara has bad habits and all that but getting him back into that horrible club wasn't her brightest idea. Best she could have done was to talk it out with their parents or smth... And for some weird reason, Tomoya and Nagisa' IQ decreased by 50% this arc and they just rolled with Mei's plan... WHY😭😭 No wonder the soccer club bullied them, what else did they think would happen?💀

sunohara is such a cool guy. One of the reasons i cant rewatch clannad despite all the great moments is the way they treat him. I mean I know that he’s basically just a comic relief, but like, at least give my guy a nice ending

3:14 a moment that sticks with males. Friendship between guys isn't always fist bumps or parties and whatever preconceptions on bromance. There are times where we guys just got to brawl it out to get our points across. It's just a quirk/mindset that is ingrained into us. And once the fight is over without our grievances vented, we can indeed go on like it never happened in the first place. It's really nice of Clannad to showcase this in its raw honest painful form.

Sunohara hitting Okazaki with the gut punch of "I thought it was fine if it's you" - really solidifies just how much Sunohara respected Tomoya despite it all being a ruse to make him upset. Even Tomoya was completely caught of guard because of it. Brilliant scene.

Not to sound like a jerk to Tomoya, but Sunohara has a point. They continued to harass her even more severely and he just stood there and watched like his brain hasn't even processed what's happening.

Absolutely beautiful sir. Amazing work. You belong somewhere far greater than KZbin.

今見ると細かな設定やラストまでの尺の長さといった粗こそあるものの、最後の爽快感はほんとに最高クラスのゲームだった。このゲームだけは記憶を消してやり直したいわ。

I know that everyone is getting emotional about him defending his sister but what really got me was "it'd be fine if it was you!" Just goes to show that sunohara knew tomoya was a good person despite what everyone else thought.

I noticed that in the beginning nagisa said tomoya-kun and then after when they were fighting she said Okazaki-San

何でカラオケにないのぉ！？

Nobody understands, but Sunohara is not really as weak as everyone considered him throughout the series. Its just that he never really fought seriously, up till this scene. Also, the fight between Sunohara and Tomoya was justifiable bcs they both had to endure each other's bullshit throughout the whole Mei Arc, so in my honest opinion, they deserved it. First of all, Tomoya is a jackass for starting all this crap and making Sunohara worry about dating Mei! Second, Mei is no better for always visiting her brother but ignoring him to spend more time with Tomoya - no big brother would let that slide! Finally, Sunohara should have figured out himself that Tomoya would never date someone over Nagisa - he even said it himself during their fist fight! But Sunohara is too much on the naïve side.
