This might be a tall order the way you did. This was perfect. Is there an updated one for 2024 for programming a G4 pager? Unfortunately I just can’t follow it because it’s laid out differently and I’m very much a beginner with this stuff. Appreciate it. Thank you

We have a LinkRunner at1000 (Fluke Version) and just got our LinkXpert in the mail. We were hoping to have the same functionality as the at1000 with a few extra features. We are not an installer and our primary usage for our at1000 is the switch port application. Most of our OT networks do not use DHCP so the inability to pull the switch port and VLAN information without being on the network essentially makes the LinkXpert useless for us.

What shelves do you have installed in the van? They almost look like they could be generic indoor shelves that you mounted into the van.
@ComputerProMediaАй бұрын
They are regular van shelving. I believe from Adrian Steel company. I flipped them upside down to mount the packout stuff.

Your Platinum Tool Qualifier looks exactly like the Softing NX1400 thatr we use for years. I Think it is the exact same thing.
@ComputerProMediaАй бұрын
I think so too. I wonder if it's just licensed out and white labeled. It's not a bad unit, a bit slow though (The P Tools one), I'm guessing the other would be the same. The Softing NetXpert XG looks interesting though.

I just got back into scanning after 25 years. It is leaps and bounds beyond what I remember from scanning in the 80’s and early 90’s. I jumped right in and bought BCD436 used for couple weeks and realized my area is simulcast, so I bought the SDS100. Programming these things is daunting for me, but I can get the systems I want to listen to for now while I’m learning. Now I just discovered the unication pager and I went ahead and bought that as well that’s perfect for the systems. I want to listen to. I just have to learn how to use all this equipment now. Having fun rediscovering scanners in the 21st century. Very informative video. Thanks

Depends on the state as far as licensing for low volt stuff. I would just apply as an apprentice helper to area IT companies that do network cabling. If you have basic building construction skills from HVAC that would be a bonus for sure.

Very good video!! I only use my cutters (hack saw & roundy round tubing cutters) for doing frames for golf nets. I do have the Saws-All and recently purchased a cutoff tool. May give them a try next time. Also, thanks for the comments about reaming/filing the tube ends. I only do that to keep from cutting MYSELF!! Didn’t think about wires!!
@oetken0074 ай бұрын
If you can not hear a tone near the cable is a good thing. That means, the shielding is working. I think the Softing tester is way too slow. Not seeing which wire is broken is also not great. The length measurement.... Wireless test are way better with an Android app.... Thank you for showing.

Thank you for posting this!!! The info you provided resulted in two recovered phones for our office. And the file size information and renaming protocol proved valuable. In my case, the files I found were actually a hair different in two cases - 42,063 KB for the rom and 9,985 KB for the bin - and the rfs was exactly 7,168 KB. Again, thanks for posting this video! God bless, Daren Butler

is the Fluke DSX 5000 or 8000 better of a certifier than the Etherscope nXG or the WireXpert 500?
@ComputerProMedia7 ай бұрын
I haven't played with the WireXpert 500 yet, but the Etherscope NXG isn't a certifier, it's a troubleshooting tool. Fluke DSX/Versiv and Ideal LanTEK are the popular goto certifiers today.

Curious if you've ever tried the Pockethernet tester? Very cool little tester that pairs up with Android or iOS. Even though the website is still up, I believe the company may have gone out of business during covid supply chain issues.

Don't forget, the case thats on the M3 isn't included. It's seperate. Also those tone wands are VERY fragile, they are not built to take any abuse at all.
@ComputerProMedia7 ай бұрын
Good point and thanks for pointing that out. The unit we tested just had the outer case on it, which seemed like a nice addition without adding too much bulk. Most toner probes feel inferior to quality units like the Fluke or Harris. What did you think of the tester unit itself?

We are an IT company and also do low voltage (network) cabling and installs. Our vans are filled with tools, this video was just for my daily carry bag for IT related service calls. Most of that work is done at the keyboard and sometimes testing wall jacks, tracing network wiring, etc. So not a lot of actual tools in the daily bags.
