I bought a Torq 8' with the carbon strip, just like yours. It was the best decision. I progressed from a Wavestorm. I surfed the Torq regularly for the past two years. I'm proud to say I'm a pretty good surfer. I'm not good, but I'm pretty good. I highly recommend the Torq brand. I made the mistake of buying expensive fins. I should have stayed with the factory Torq fins because I would have saved $120.

I’d like to see this board being filmed from the beach. That’s a super unique shape and a go pro doesn’t convey any useable info on what it looks like to ride. Nice looking board though.

This board is a recreation of a 1949 Bob Simmons spoon. The dimensions of this board are 9’ x 23” x 3”; the fins are glasses in cedar. The shaper is Allen Riggan of Roster Shack, Wilmington, NC.

@@DaveWSimmons What would be nice Is somebody filming from the beach to see all the subtleties of the glide and turns. There is nobody filming anything like that with that sort of a board on KZbin that I could find. The idea is do I want to shape something like that for myself in the future but without seeing how it’s riding, it’s really hard to get the enthusiasm to do so. All of the Simmons really creations that I could find or all minis. I put to kill fins on my 9 foot long board and it rode really nicely actually. I wondered how it would go as a Squaretail. Mine is a Pintail.

@@DaveWSimmons Nah. Doesn’t help. Thanks anyways. Go Pros are good for a lot of stuff. In surfing good choice for giant tube rides. Beyond that a drone or beach camera with a good zoom works better to show what’s happening better. Thanks for putting it out there on KZbin. At least it shows somebody in the world is riding a Simmons longboard and having fun. Keep on surfing. I don’t get to surf much anymore. I’m like 1.5-2hr from the closest surf spots after a lifetime of surfing in warmer climates. Currently I shortened my self shaped 10’6 in a dream that I can one day surf overseas again. It’s 9’0 but super thick now. In the process of trying out a series of different fin set ups in this icy Oregon water I discovered that it seems to currently surf best with twin keel fins. That surprised the heck out of me. Unfortunately there’s only a tiny fraction of people riding twin fin longboards and gliders in the world. Every video I see shows the rider doing really well. For example Ray Gleave on a 10’6(?) black twin fin glider in Australia. I read online and was told for many years twin fins were no good on longboards. Simmons didn’t think so. He said in the end we are all surfing our rail. And in some sense the twin fin is an extension of both rails. I lived at Waimea bay for a year and surfed it for four years. My top session was my last one there. I rode my high performance longboard that was a thruster but had been surfing as a twin fin for several months before. That was my best session there ever mainly because of the looseness at high speed. I had that same feeling on my last session using keel fins on my current longboard here in Oregon. I also read online some chargers over on Oahu are now switching to twin fins on their longboards. It seems like the surfing establishment has been lying to us all these years. At least that’s how I feel about it.

Hi, I've been following your channel for a long time and everything in your videos has always been spectacular. The sessions are great, the quality is fantastic... this channel is absolutely brilliant and you helped me a lot with the majority of my curiosities about surfing, thank you so much, I appreciate everything you do on KZbin, good job! Anyway, I would like to make a suggestion (if it's not a problem for you): I'm convinced that you can add a really funny video on your channel to show us some of the funniest things happened while surfing, swimming or even during other water activities, I was thinking of something like a "oops and bloopers" compilation. For example, you could gather all of the times where you or your even your friends get recorded on video during ops times... like a pee time! Once, my uncle, who is a surfer too, had a pee in his wetsuit on his surfboard while we were waiting for a wave, it was soooo hilarious and funny that I almost died 😊. He always tells me there are 2 types of swimmers, divers and surfers: those who pee in the water and those who lie. If you want, you could also include those "releasing" moments as small clips in the future videos just to keep having a bit of humor on your channel, you can use both old and new clips, what do you think? Yeah… I know, it could sound weird for you right now, but, in my opinion, it's the funniest thing about surfers and swimmers, believe me. When a surfer pees in the water, I think they demonstrate to be someone who is not afraid of consequences or to be judged and they just enjoy the moment, no matter what happens. And if you can't tell when someone else does it, well, you could ask them to do a particular sign before they do it, I think it's something that can come out great! I'd be so so happy to watch it, let me know, have a wonderful day!
