One thing you should know you can always check your bag for free as long as it’s a carry-on size and you bring it to the gate and ask. Another thing, American Airlines will start asking you to volunteer And pick a dollar amount, even if the flight is not oversold or it’s not even full yet.

Wow, what an ordeal Jeff! For such a short flight that length of delay is beyond frustrating. Even I felt the annoyance of the delay. I actually haven’t flown AA since the 90s, before the merger with Reno Air. That tells you how old school I am and I don’t think I’ll be flying them any time soon.

I have a 1/30 scale Lockheed L-1011 Tristar model up on KZbin

The L-1011, 747 and 727 were my favorite planes to fly in. I miss flying in them. The DC-10 was also a nice plane to fly in.

I might have helped build that L1011. Worked for Lockheed right after A&P school back in late 1972. There were a couple of Air Canada planes on the line then. Also I learned to fly at LGB. Learned at Rainbow Air and later bought one of his planes and leased it back to them. Big mistake! Since I lived 5 blocks from the airport and flew from there I know that airport very well.

The only flying L 1011 !!

My first overseas military deployment was in 1989 on an L-1011. 25-hour journey from LA to Japan with several stops enroute where we were not allowed to deplane. Never been so happy to get off of a plane in my life. They were a noisy/clunky plane to fly on. They made a series of unusual noises that I have never heard on a plane before or since.
