Hi Rosemary, I'm originally from Malahide, North Dublin myself. Yes, Ireland is a special place. I'd love to spend some time there on the west coast next year.

The Stockholm archipelago is pretty unique with it's 24 000 islands. I feel very lucky to have it on my doorstep.

Åland and Finland are fantastic too - there are less people and a zillion islands. You can really get away from civilisation. I hope you are staying strong and winning the fight. I am actually painting a scene right now of a woman (my wife) looking out to sea. The sky is blue and the colours are bright. It's a happier version. 🙂 Good luck with your painting. Tip: Try not to be too ambitious when starting off.

Hi Roy, Sorry for this late reply. I haven't been so active on KZbin recently due to poor health. I'm good now and have started painting and YouTubing again. 😊 The answer to your question is, yes. I use fixative spray. I usually use the orange tread maker in my sketchbook to mark from where I haven't spayed. It's not always easy to have a can of fixative with you. I fix them when I get home to the studio.

I do have a poncho that I usually bring if the weather is unstable 🙃 I should buy another for the easel. You are right! 😀

Hello Larry, This is a very late reply to your comments four months ago. I apologise, I've had a tough time recently. Life is better now. I even published a video on KZbin last week, something I haven't done for a year. Sketchbooks are very personal I think. That's why there are so many of them out there. Moleskins are very popular with Urban Sketchers around the world. urbansketchers.org/ I used to be one of them when I started sketching. As the years went on I slowly grew away from the group. Saying that, I still join the Stockholm gang a few times a year.

Hi, I'm glad you like the video. 😃👍 Holbein colours are hard to buy here in Sweden. I order online at jacksonart.com. These days I never have music in my videos and I try to keep my chatting to a minimum. Better to let the environment and the watercolour painting tell the story.

@@meldrumart it would be the same latitude as northern Italy and Southern Germany. But Canada is covered in what we call the Canadian Shield. So higher up on Lake Superior is pretty much the same.

I am using flat brushes more and more. Very useful for urban subjects especially, and water reflections too. The little house, my GoPro camera has a wide angle lens so objects in the distance become very small unfortunately.
