So many in the comments saying this is not snap oversteer, it seems a lot of people have the wrong idea what snap oversteer is, and this is CLEARLY a text book example of snap oversteer. (Snap oversteer is when you loose grip in the rear and corrects it and it snaps back into place with such force and momentum that it sends you into often a 180 or 360 spin the other way).

i wish every person who talked about snap oversteer like it was some sort of mythical beast that is inherent to to mid engine cars had to surrender their mr2s to me

This is a clear case of snap oversteer... What do you think snap oversteer is? (Snap oversteer is when you loose grip in the rear and corrects it and it snaps back into place with such force and momentum that it sends you into a 180 or 360 spin).

He was kinda asking for it the way he was driving :D If he would've drove smoother and used all the track like POV car there would've been less change this to happen xd

I removed my fuel tank and mounted a 12 gallon fuel cell in the front trunk, then relocated the battery to the area the fuel tank was, there is a 75% improvement in the way my 89 MR2 handles.

Thats gonna be a nice bonfire if you ever have a frontal impact lmao! You'd want to make sure its a puncture proof cell.

This was driver error, got loose on exit, over-corrected steering and lifted the throttle which threw the weight onto the front tires which were then pointed in the wrong direction.
@Dstructeur1 Жыл бұрын
You’re missing the entry points and apexes on most corners in the video which leads to wrong steering and throttle input almost each times you turn! Slow down and get some beginners course, you’ll see then how handsome, easy and fast that car is!

Snap oversteer doesn’t exist. The oversteer came on slowly and controllably. That was overcorrecting regular old oversteer. You can see his front tires steer well past straight and shoot the front end way past the point of correction. Then the car went into oversteer in the opposite direction, driver didn’t catch it, and they spun. Snap oversteer: Still a myth perpetuated by the uneducated. 🤦🏻♂️

Maybe not a great idea to drive a mid engine short wheel base MR2 if your driving skills are low..

Just bad driving. When it happens, you need to floor it, not close the throttle

No. Liftoff oversteer goes specifically into the turn.

Till now, I didn't realize the MR2 became well known (and kinda meme-ified) due to snap oversteer. I was kinda wondering why the MR2 is a bit more "gimmicky" (I don't know how to describe it in any other way) than any other MR car I've driven in Gran Turismo 5.

When I’d play Gran Turismo Sport, I would sometimes use snap oversteer to my advantage in turns. Especially S-shaped turns

I always here profusely by the MR2 community that it can be countered relatively easily if you know the car and know what you’re doing but dam, that snap is brutal! Seems like once it bites, it *really* bites, with little driver input can do.
@magical51812 жыл бұрын
Yeah those cars are brutal, I guess you have to drive drive and drive it for such a long time in order to counter it. But I guess the best thing is not making oversteer occur in the first place, though it is fun kicking the rear end around 😂
@sigmamale4147 Жыл бұрын
You should always brake before corner and gas during corner in a mr2. People who drive it like a FR car will spin
@xkall5391 Жыл бұрын
Of caurse it can't be easy to counter it, they are talking about oversteer and not snap, this thing is so difficult to counter it that even dedicated racers can't pull it off with consistency.

Wonder if it has an open diff or a worn out LSD. Seems like it unloaded the right rear as it drifted left, then snapped back hard when it caught traction again.
@MikeTrollerOfficial2 жыл бұрын
NA MR2s came from the factory on open diffs so that is a strong possibility

You should have slowed down immediately behind him rather than overtaking from the right HOPING for the best!
@JohnDoe-ne2qs Жыл бұрын
The vast majority of tracks are well wide enough that if a spin out happens on one side of a slow corner, it can generally be avoided.. that and it looked like a bunch of traffic was there. Slamming the anchors on could've easily ended in a pile crash behind!

i think the tires gave up
@mathew59562 жыл бұрын
Am I correct in assuming that if you've had experience with AWD sliding out behind you on slippery tyres, had the Normal snapback and correct, then you should be ok to correct this situation just .5 of a millisecond slower in reaction in Snapback?

I think he powered on too early, causing it to drift and when he felt it instead of punching the gas, he just let the car gain traction causing it to snip snap
