Hi, I have been thinking about this song and video for 7 days, here is my analysis. Surface Level Meaning: (From the song lyrics) A creature has died, presumably hit by a car crash. A group of people inspect the damaged carcass. They take pictures and put them online. (Hence, a "Gore Blog"). Ideological Meaning: The "I" in the song is from the perspective of the carcass, the "We" is everyone that is observing it. Evidence for this is when the lyrics "it was bleeding from its mouth" are followed by when i don’t think you can hear me i can’t speak, i can’t breathe out i don’t like where i'm sleeping but i don’t think i can leave now The creature cannot speak or breathe because of the blood in its mouth. It can't leave from where it is because it is asleep (dead). Now here is something quite chilling. Look at the pfp of 8485 right now, look at the six fingers and a thumb. The face is also blurred. "pinch your screen to look closer, abstract the form more and more" "for website censors rendered, they would be none the wiser" But what 8485 meant by this is purely speculation, but your guess is as good as mine lol. Other things of note: 1. Carcass as a metaphor for something lost or deteriorating: The carcass could symbolize something in the narrator's life or a relationship that has decayed or is in a state of disrepair. This could be a metaphor for the deterioration of a once vibrant or lively aspect of their life. 2. Counting ribs where skin has withered away: This imagery may represent examining the underlying structure or essence of something, stripped of superficial qualities. It might suggest a deep introspection or analysis of a situation or relationship. 3. Crushed by tires like the ones we drive on: This line might signify the destructive impact of everyday actions or routines, possibly implying that the things we do in our daily lives can have negative consequences. 4. Playing shock rock in the summer: This could be a metaphor for using distractions or entertainment, like music, to cope with or divert attention from unpleasant realities. 5. Keeping the car running in a small town: This may imply a reluctance to fully engage with or commit to the surroundings, possibly reflecting a sense of detachment or restlessness. 6. Not asking for a name or address: This could signify a lack of interest in personal details or a deliberate avoidance of deeper connections, maintaining a certain level of distance. 7. Wishing death on someone: The lyrics suggest that the individual has someone they wish death upon. However, the identity of this person is not explicitly revealed in the provided lyrics. The reasons for harboring such feelings are also not clearly stated.

A gore blog is a spectacle and an online congregation where people find fascination in the destruction and rot of the form. If you imagine the deer corpse as a human or like someone struggling with body dysmorphia (with the constant draw to the body being examined as something discomforting), who is either being bullied or scrutinized for their form by others or themselves, it makes it a bit easier to understand an interpretation of the song.

@@Allen-yv5xg Interesting. I had assumed the song was about something/someone rotten before understanding what the gore blog was lol. So in a sense the song is a critique about the gore blog itself and how it can make you dehumanize a person? Like saying they didn’t ask for the name or address?

@@Allen-yv5xg Additionally, I’m curious to know what the significance of the music video in correlation to the song?

Copied from 8485 bandcamp: lyrics looked around for a car crash pulled aside for a carcass instead we got out to take pictures it was bleeding from its mouth when i don’t think you can hear me i can’t speak, i can’t breathe out i don’t like where i’m sleeping but i don’t think i can leave now we counted its ribs where most of the skin had withered away, some crushed by tires like the ones we drive on it can’t be long since it was alive last and now it’s not as you lean down and over, pinch your screen to look closer, abstract the form more and more, it is itself no longer for website censors rendered, they would be none the wiser it is itself no longer it is itself no longer play shock rock in the summer when the windows can come down like to keep the car running when you park it in some town smaller than where they kept you am i someone you trust now? i know who you wish death to and we can work it out somehow somehow i never asked you your name or current address somehow it doesn’t matter somehow i have no interest from workplace doxxing efforts shielded by holy water we are ourselves no longer we are ourselves no longer <3
