Thanks for sharing, Gus! When I was younger, I thought of this passage more literally such as being enticed with drugs, sex, alcohol, partying etc….more tangible things to avoid/stay away from. But, with the reach of social media and electronics now, I see how simply self love, self-centeredness, and not being content with what I have is the enticement that I have to consciously resist whether it is directed at my looks, house or simple material possessions. Nowadays, we can simply “walk” with them (as it says in verse 15) with the click of our iPhone….it doesn’t have to be in person. And, from the social media perspective, those who do yada yada yada and look like yada yada yada have the “good life”. Being discontent draws you away from God and the fear of God-which Satan wants!
