Either Morricone borrowed from his soundtrack for the 'Untouchables' for this theme, or, this was an early draft of that : )
@RyanCMcD2 ай бұрын
The Untouchables hadn't come out, but it's similar. This one actually borrows from multiple Morricone scores.

The submachine gun in this movie, the MP5K Coffer, is an airsoft gun made in Japan. It behaves in a way that is impossible with a real gun. Pulling the front grip back and cocking? The front grip rattles when fired in full auto? That's impossible. And they even added a sound effect when cocking the gun... They are so ignorant of firearms. ※43:55

Also, if you are a fan of Alan Rudolph's Trouble In Mind. Compare it to Marcel Camus 'Black Orpheus' (1959). They are surprisingly similar. Even down to certain screenshots - streetcars in Brazil versus the monorail in Seattle. And they basically have the same message. Both remarkable movies kzbin.info/www/bejne/oXzXhnimpNWobKM

The film and the soundtrack makes the whole film PERFECTION. Mark Isham created a masterpiece soundtrack and adding Marianne Faithful was genius. A+++ all around!

Can someone explain the ending credits scene where the bad guy steps off the bus? I thought he died after being shot on the plane.

Just some extra footage the director put in to keep it spooky, I guess. He did that many times in his career.

A masterpiece. Lori Singer is astonishing and gives a marvelous performance. She was nominated for the Independent Spirit Award.

Director William Friedkin used a lot of the team he used on To Live and Die in L.A. in The Cat Squad, including writer Gerry Petievich, cinematographer Bob Yeoman and editors Bud and Scott Smith. I have both this and the sequel, Python Wolf, on VHS tape from when they aired on NBC.

Wow. I'm really glad to find this here. Haven't watched it yet, but I've been trying to collect or at least watch some of William Friedkin's lesser known works and was just made aware of C.A.T Squad from Tarantino on his new Podcast. Will get to this one eventually.

This movie is just in a league of its own. After 35 years it still stands out. It's the camerawork, the lights, the mood, the music, the acting, the storytelling ...

Great movie that I saw once and never forgot; moving, romantic, lonesome and nostalgic music by Maryanne Faithful & composer Mark Isham, with gorgeous and serene landscapes of the mist-covered mountains outside of Seattle. Directed by Alan Rudolph. more: en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Alan_Rudolph

"Here is a movie that takes place within our memories of the movies. The characters, the mysteries and especially the doomed romances are all generated by old films, by remembered worlds of lurid neon signs and deserted areas down by the docks, of sad cafes where losers linger over a cup of coffee and lonely rooms where the light bulb is a man's only friend. This is a world for which the saxophone was invented. The movie begins with a man being released from prison, of course." more: www.rogerebert.com/reviews/trouble-in-mind-1986

I was looking for it for many years, remembering neither the name of the film, nor the name of an actor. Any idea with names coming to mind were blind alleys. And today I had the literally divine afflatus, the club owner could have been Divine. Et voilà. I am so thankful to see this movie after about 30 years again. :))

Fantastic movie! And I just love Divine's role! He was great as Hillie Blue! All of the acting, the script, the direction! Not to mention the soundtrack! Just an incredible movie! I can't believe it's a sleeper!

And Oscar winning director whose career went down the toilet. And a score that Ennio Morricone phoned in on an afternoon off.
@oliverganley6178 Жыл бұрын
None of the Morricone songs are from this film. Somebody (I assume Friedkin) must have chose them and used them in his own film. A trick that’s usually done by filmmakers who can’t afford to hire someone to compose an original soundtrack.

I was looking for this movie, thanks for posting it. The majority of the scenes were filmed in Montreal, Quebec, Canada. The rocket launcher scene was filmed near my home in Pierrefonds, Quebec, suburb of Montreal. Filmed at the Corner of Boulevard Gouin & Anse a L’ Orme road. The Princeton scene is filmed at McGill University in Montreal.
