16:07 I believe that is Phil McLaughlin and his wife dancing. Phil had a Pub just above where the old cinema use to stand, but t was demolished in 1977. Phil passed away in 1995. He was a brother of Peter McLaughlin, who owned 'Peters Bar 'in Newtowncunningham. Sadly Peter himself passed away last week . Also at 16:47 is another Newtowncunningham man, Austin Cullen, who passed away in 2006

I knew I recognised George Thompson at 5:50 - he would become the director of the Independent Broadcasting Authority IBA here in the UK, they regulated commercial television and radio in the UK back then. Thompson oversaw the new ITV regional franchises in 1982, the launch of Channel 4 in 1982 and the launch of breakfast television TV-am on ITV in 1983.

I am part of the Italian Choir "Coro Monte Pasubio"(min 8:41) . I was not there that day but I found this interesting video and I would like to send my congratulation to the town of Letterkenny for the wonderful ospitality that my friends told me about. This is the seventh edition of the Festival and was the second time the Choir came to Letterkenny Festival and knew an other fantastic group of children called Spurley Hey Wind Band , great young musicians and still friends after 45 years passed.

Some great stuff here - economic development, social development, planning communities, parochialism etc. Issues that still dominate local politics in our country.

I benefitted from the new pool in the mid 70s. It was a game changer for the young of the town, and youngsters from other parts of the county who used to come in buses to learn how to swim (and save lives).

I remember the old youth club and Fr. McLoone, a Father Ted like character. There were many others like him, and still are today. We got our swimming pool, schools, sports facilities, investment, luxury homes etc. Today the RTC is part of a Technological University. Living away from the town today, the challenge now is develop better road infrastructure to Dublin.

Another great video! This is when people had time for each other! They took days off to enjoy themselves . I remember when the president came to Letterkenny! . Oh I also remember Miss Reid ! Do you know what she used to do, she will probably kill me for this, but she would scrape the chalk on the blackboard to annoy us.She was my teacher at the Royal! When I think about it , it still gives me the shivers! She was such a good looking lady. I remember all my teachers ! And I loved school.

Aw,such a great video!! And the people dressed so smart! And everyone so happy! Fun times! When I was a child my dear late parents took us every year to the letterkenny agriculture show.. We had the best times with our picnic basket and a big rug! Watching the show jumping . I remember fondly.

I'm all for the Irish language ! It's a basic right of the Irish people! Catholic or Protestant .The Welsh have their language and speak it freely without fear of reprisal ! Parts of Ireland are still very much in the dark ages, especially Co.Donegal bordering Northern Ireland ! I can't think of any other part of the Republic of Ireland having such a divide! The Irish language shouldn't be decided by politics, period !

A bit of a long shot but does anyone know of a Tiger Moth aircraft that was said to be stored in a shed at Letterkenny around 1977 or earlier?

Today, it's hard to understand objections to the then RTC at Letterkenny. Towns like LK, Dundalk, Athlone. Sligo and Carlow have developed strongly on foot of their RTCs, including foreign direct investment. The town has done well over the years and the people are proud of their hone town, the "pride of Donegal" as the song goes.

12:40, I think that milling company (1975) was a ruin within five to ten years. That spot used to be derelict, with peacocks visible off the roadside, near the pool, or even on the road.

Very beautiful scenery . It would have been nice if you had sumed in a little bit when you showed the water . I was also interested in seeing what was to your left . It would have been lovely to see this be longer than it was . Also I am wondering exactly where this is
