I saw videos where they cut the loop, they don't make any sense to me???? Why do you want to cut the loop? Is it another tailor tack technique?
@kdknyc11 күн бұрын
It is.
@HumodHadi11 күн бұрын
@kdknyc when you cut the loop, it becomes messy and is no good for straight lines. Even notches and dart point are better with a loop. What is the other technique used for?

I am fascinated by the different way to measure bust as this is an area that confounds me. I am trying to sew for slender, but quite busty, fit client. What book are you referring to with "page 21" comment, please?

Thanks for sharing this technique and explaining it so well. If I were to use this on a sage green silk organza, would you recommend using a buttonhole/topstitch thread that is close in colour to the sage green? I suppose I am wondering how much the colour of the buttonhole/topstitch thread is going to show through the hem?
@kdknyc28 күн бұрын
You can match the threads to the fabric. Gutermann Mara 30 comes in a variety of colors so you can get something that is as close as possible in color.

Literally everything about this tutorial is amazing! You have an incredible grasp of how to teach through the medium of video, from planning the steps to choosing your angles, recording your voice, keeping your instructions clear and simple, giving us an interesting historical example for comparison, I’m quite in awe of your facility with **both** arts of fine garment finishing techniques and KZbin tutorial making 😁

Your hole in the Bernina needleplate, in front of the needle, is designed exactly for this technique! Feed the thread you are zigzagging over, through the open bobbin door, up through the hole, under the center of the presser foot, so you would flip your fabric, and it feeds neatly, evenly. (Some brands of machines do not have this great feature.)
@kdknycАй бұрын
Actually that works better if you're sewing the cord from below. Also, on machines that are not Berninas, there may not be that hole--I want this technique to work for all machines that have a zig zag stitch.

Thank you so much for doing this professional video! Please could you tell me, can I use silk thread on organza for the rolled hem on the machine with the gutermann thread as the base? Thank you!

You could, or better yet, fine rayon machine embroidery thread. Looks like silk but will go through the machine better.
