When I switched to digital almost 20 years ago, I was given a Minolta brand camera that was quite good, and when it died some years ago, that was right when smart phone cameras were getting good, so I haven't had a proper camera in about five years. I'm on a tight budget, but want to stop carrying my phone everywhere with me, and want to get back into taking photography more seriously. Also to find something that does video decently. Thanks for this guide.

The 24-70mm is that cost for a reason. It’s better In every way

Very interesting video. Admit I was ignorant on this issue. My new Sony camera file format is not yet supported and converting to dng is the work around. Now I understand and you make a lot of sense to go with dng.

If I were a professional and did a lot of portraits, etc., I'd probably go for the 24-70. However, since I'm just a hobbiest, and like to shoot a wide range of subjects, I find that the extra focal range is more important to me than the extra stop of light. Thus, I bought my R5 with the RF 24-105 F4. Later I bought the 85mm f/2 which, along with my existing EF 50 f/1.4 are great for the occassional grandchild portrait.

I bought the R50 creator's kit which comes with a 18-45mm lens, I also bought the 10-18mm wide lens, I mainly use it for making videos for my electronics KZbin channel, I am still learning how to use it, but I'm pretty happy with the video quality as long as I use a tripod, moving round with it just doesn't look good at all, possibly because it doesn't have IBIS? I'm thinking if I get more serious into photography and video I might save for the R5 Mk II and get a decent lens.

Do you have any advice for using a variable ND filter with a lens hood? My variable ND filters prevent the hood being able to be attached to the lens.

Pozdrawiam ;-)))

People who lack empathy don't understand mental health. People who have never experienced physical or emotional abuse also don't understand mental health. People's genetics can cause them to have severe anxiety, and its called an invisible illness for a reason. Its not easy to just get over it! I know you are trying to help, but too many people promote Toxic Positivity. What most people don't realise is that 'good vibes only' is toxic positivity, as it discards any negative emotions, and denies people authentic support.

@theschoolofphotography, For the record, i bought your book on kindle a while back, and its that good that i'll be buying the paperback at some point. And i saved the promotion video of the book to one of my fujifilm x-t20 playlist, so hopefully other people will see it.

Brilliant video. I'm a beginner photographer using a Nikon D5200. After some online comments, I've been thinking about upgrading to something newer, but your video has changed my mind. I will increase my skills and knowledge on this camera first.

Great comparison, although the people who like to split hairs (myself included) would likely choose the f2.8, Canons pricing is simply too high. Always has been but even more so now, especially for those in the US facing this trash economy. I personally am looking for a good size/form factor as well so I can travel with it. Seem like the 24-105mm is well worth it especially the used price. Thanks for the in depth review!

Great video, I have a quick question. I do a lot of still life photography, on the video at 5.28 you have a still life set up, what are the joins holding the backdrop and the base together and where can I buy some? Many thanks, Alyson x

I’m a beginner shooting with the R6 Mark II and the RF 85mm F2.8 currently. I am looking at selling it and buying one of these 2 lenses but my question is if, with the blur feature in Lightroom buying the 25-70 just because of that F2.8 would truly be a game changer and justified?

Question: I want to buy a fujifilm XT30 II camera that comes with a XC 15-45mm f/3.5-5.6 lens. Does that mean that I should get one that just says 35 to get an actual nifty fifty or is this lens basically the same thing/can achieve the same thing? Can I just set the "settings" to 35 mm and get the same effect? Im a complete beginner and this is my first camera so I have no idea how this works.

the 24-70 is a lot sharper and that is more important than background creaminess!
@stefanski86207 күн бұрын
it's better to have a xenon speedlight with a trigger for it'll trump the lens and the body! Proper sensor saturation (signal fidelity) trumps any gear investment. If you're going to invest into any gear, it should be one's self and a basic speedlight with a remote trigger. Lighting and one's understanding of lighting properties and quality of light makes ALL the difference!

Hello! After watching this video I still don’t know what to buy, my budget is 1000 ish. I want to take photos of myself like I see a lot of girls do and they recommend the g7x mark ii, however, I also wanna take pictures of landscapes because I’m going to Europe for a few months and I wanna be able to take pictures of the landscape. I’ve personally taken pictures of people with the g7x, however I didn’t get the chance to do it with landscape so I don’t know how it plays out. I want a smaller one too, as I don’t wanna carry heavy. What do you recommend? I’m also a beginner !!

Now adobe DNG converter will not install on my computer, but i am trying to convert the images to DNG. If you have any other videos or info that can support this process, thanks
