Not sure why, but I really like how the Short Stirling looks...maybe even more than the Lancaster (HERESY!!!!) I know the Lanc was more capable and the like, but just the way it looks, to me the Stirling is very cool looking.

A service ceiling of 11,700 feet? No, my friend that would be 11,700 meters which is 3 times that high. The plane was a high altitude interceptor for shooting down high altitude B-29's.
@mebeasensei Жыл бұрын
i once read that this might have been the best interceptor they made for the B29, but they had no options. All the other late-war planes were cool but they couldn't match the B29. This one is ugly and it looked like the designers copied the back of the Brewster Buffalo

If the Japanese were such smart designers, why did it take till 1975 to build a good performing, low maintenance reliable car? Honda Civic and Accord.

Because the bulk of their men, high intellect people, and most of the island nation as a whole were lost. 1970s? lol they were fielding very high tech/ high quality cars and bikes in global motor sports. I still own my first Honda. Bought new in 1970. Still rides and operates like new. Never had the head off of it.

It was an attempt to mimic American muscle planes but the H.P. of the Raiden still fell behind American planes like the Corsair, P-47 and Hellcat. By the time it came out it was already outclassed by most American fighters and made little impact in the skies in 1943.

Great vid though I would not compare the P-38 with the J2M it was more like the P-47 thanks for the vid.

This is neat! I wonder how they operated aboard ship, like with the tiny hangers on Bismark. Maintenance aboard ship in cramped spaces, cranes, and catapults.

I saw this plane at the RAF Museum. It was basically a 1943 plane that came out in 1945 because the Japanese needed to get as many planes in the air as possible so they fitted a more available radial engine on the Ki-61 chassis and accidentally created a very good fighter plane. The fact that it was still competitive in 1945 against P-51s and F4Us is testament to how good the design was. If it came into service in 1943 and the Japanese were able to increase its speed and improve it high altitude performance, it would be considered a great WW2 fighter I reckon.

Only thing to add to the vid is it was prone to shed the fabric on top of it's top wing in a dive. Good vid otherwise.
