Nice to see people not "hypped" by the uad stuff :) Behringer is amazing for the bucks ! Indeed there is a small noise (I wonder how it is with other sound cards) and amp are a little bit weak for dynamic mics (I have no issue with static one, the level is high enough). And I feel that having dsp within the device may be limiting: you cannot upgrade it to avoid performance issue). Fully agree with you concerning the leds. Green and red are not enough, at least orange would have been a killer feature. Thanks for your video. Cheers.

I made my living playing a pedal steel guitar for 45 years and know most of the people that play them and I can tell you most don't know anything about theory and I never used it for pedal steel even though I have a college degree in music but my school instrument was the piano. They and myself mainly learn by all the tricks pedals and knee levers do. They identify chords and notes by what they hear often imitating what they have heard like you said. There is so much going on at once that if you have to think about it you're way behind in the song. The best pedal steel players are on automatic. They don't even think about the music while playing. They can carry on a conversation while playing. Paul Franklin calls it muscle memory. I call it just doing what a country boy like me does best. Lol! It's pretty much all I've ever done besides being a recording engineer. Keep pickin'!

You are very, very skilled. One thing I noticed was you seem to use some very undercooked monitor speakers - are they the desktop Bose ones with a single "twiddler" cone of about 2.75 inches? If so, I'm kind of puzzled; they are very good compared to basic 2.0 desktop speakers - but just by their nature cramped in the bass. I'm just surprised I guess that you don't seem to be using even a modest pair of "near field" monitors.

There are usually a pair of adam 7’s. The video was done in a transition time and in later videos you can see the Adam’s. From memory the d as pace other side the big screen actually had a pair of 12”/1” pa speakers as the project before would be using them. That studio is really the video studio. The audio recordings are normally in the other studio which does change if I can avoid it. Sorry to confuse

Many people are buying these mics from aliexpress than putting them in the boxes with another purchase from amazon or other sites who will not go check the mics inside when they return them. What is happening is these returns are then repurchased again by legitimate buyers who are getting duped. Amazon and other sites need to start checking these returns to see if someone swapped the mics with the cheaper aliexpress ones. Watch out for these!!!

Biggest firmware bug on these radios is scan operation. The PL detect takes a quarter to half second to decode the programmed PL and unmute. Problem is the radio scan stop delay doesn’t hold the radio on channel that’s receiving long enough to correctly decode the PL and unmute the audio thus stopping the scan until the carrier drops for a few seconds. You must use csq receive for any channels you want to scan. Also doesn’t seem to allow simultaneous upper/lower band receive as most other radios of this type do. Otherwise not a bad radio, if these issues are fixed it’ll be a decent radio for the price.

The latest Mac is a decent spec mini Mac - and it is seamless - I have discovered one small annoyance. Cubase keeps forgetting it! Every time, no matter what boxes I tick in various menus, the INPUTs auto connect to the Behringer, but I have to manually set the outputs to it - every time. No idea what has changed, but I suspect it's not the interface - as adobe audition AND Steinberg Spectral Layers pick it up automatically, but Cubase Pro 13 is resisting me! I really like it. In any meaningful test, if it sounds different from the old Presonus and Tascam before it, I cannot hear it!

The "something unexpected" happening at the end of the video should have been the _first_ thing to be checked, since notoriously most of the fake SM57 come in transformerless version. And moreover, I don't know how reliable is the test of a mic capsule, however cheap it may be, that has been subjected to phantom power for an extended period of time...

Is this considered fake because Shure didn't sell it or because Shure didn't make it? We've had a lot of cases of "fakes" lately where its just a case of the factory who makes a product selling it directly to the consumer
@pauljohnson4590
@pauljohnson4590 Ай бұрын
I have experience of that but here it seems the capsule has identical capsule but different wire colours? Only a guess but I wonder if Shure source the capsule from an OEM source and they just made a pile more with enough difference to be 'not' Shure? Would different colours be enough? I think I have detected another small difference in the threads the basket screws onto. Slightly less turns? The fake one needs about one turn less from where the thread begins?
@ThemFuzzyMonsters
@ThemFuzzyMonsters Ай бұрын
It is a counterfeit the instant it says Shure on the product while not being sold by Shure. I also don’t think Shure manufactures in Asia (I believe only US, Mexico, and Germany), so this wouldn’t be an OEM going rogue.

@pauljohnson4590
@pauljohnson4590 Ай бұрын
As it happens, unlike most of the things I review, which just get put on a shelf, this is in daily use. I changed the video studio a bit since then and added a new editing PC, and this interface was sitting there, so I used it. The computer, when not on still supplies power to the interface, so it has been on 24/7 for months and works perfectly. In fact as I am using it to bring in two channels and output two channels, I forget it's actually doing something. My experience with Chinese gear is failures tend to be dead on arrival, or heat related, as in lighting power supplies and LED drivers. Audio interfaces are such low current devices, if they work, they stay working.

Quite ironic, the design of the c3000 is theoretically to prevent it falling out of the mount like the 414 - the shock mount is internal and theres a flange on the stem to stop it slipping out of its mount. You might be overlooking the mount somewhere as its not a shock mount, just a simple collar

Wow ... substantial difference in sound - the fake is much more sibilant and sharp at a distance, and, as you say, more alike in loser in sound up close. Substantially more puffing and chuffing from plosives on the fake one. You should not buy fake products - that gives money to product identity theives who are too lazy, cheap, and greedy to do their own design and marketing research and development. Buying cheap knock off copy cat products are both inferior and allows a low grad person to make money off another man's hard work. Just don't buy knock offs as it cheats you and the original manufacturer. And, if you think they sound the same ... you have little discernment. They do sound different - the fake is thinner, less full, and way more subject to chuffing from plosives - your hand held test shows this dramatically, but you fail to notice it, yourself. That really degrades your review. JHT

I’ve just noticed a new fake mic on ebay lots of them. I’ve ordered one to try against my original. I suspect that what could be happening is these really ARE Shures but the rejected ones from the Chinese plant. This could explained why they’re very, very similar. I’ll compare them when it arrives!
@JR-lx8nn
@JR-lx8nn Ай бұрын
@@pauljohnson4590 No. They are NOT rejects from the SHURE plant. If they were rejects, they would be exactly the same as the original products in all respects, but for a blemish in the paint or some other minor flaw. Very similar does NOT make them EXACT copies ... Moreover, they are NOT rejects because A) SHURE does not sell rejects to anyone, and B) the knock offs are clearly different in several respects, and you only identified a few of these differences in your video - there are other differences as well, easily discovered if you do a full forensic comparison - I am a retired forensic lawyer for industry- while I appreciate your suggestion, I am confident SHURE does not sell rejects in retail packages with no indication they are seconds, which is illegal and enforced by the FCC in the US. All in good fun - thanks for the reply. JHT
@pauljohnson4590
@pauljohnson4590 Ай бұрын
@@JR-lx8nn Sorry - I didn't mean Shure sells them, but a number of well known manufacturers seem to find production fails being sold. Even worse, the system allows an OEM company to manufacture branded items that can then be sold as made in a totally different country. If you were making Brand A parts, and somebody else wanted some 'production overuns' I bet they happen. Things like capsules. They'd go on the test jig and a percentage would be in the out of spec bin - throw away, or sell them. I doubt there is an American rep watching the factory 24/7
@JR-lx8nn
@JR-lx8nn Ай бұрын
@@pauljohnson4590 You are missing the big elephant in the room. The big give away is you and others clearly demonstrate in your videos knock off copy cat versions are physically different from legitimate products in several salient respects, proving they are close, but not exact copies. If cheap copies contained OEM parts, those parts would "surely" look like original parts because they would actually be original parts. But the fake products are clearly physically different - the handles are different size, shape, color, thickness, with different markings from real OEM or legitimate handles. Fake grilles are also different size, color, shape, from legitimate parts. Rejected microphones and parts, and OEM parts, would all look exactly like legitimate microphones and parts - they would not bear these obvious differences. Moreover, shipping boxes and packaging all bear obvious differences from legit products - so they are NOT OEM parts or SHURE factory rejects. These differences clearly belie any notion they are factory rejects or comprised of OEM parts. They are clearly fakes made from fake parts. Happy trails. All in good fun. "Take Courage" old man!! JHT

I also like this radio for the price. I purchased the RT Systems software which allows for moving memories around. I like the fact you can view the memory channels by alpha name and also the frequencies are displayed on the bottom of the screen. My radio would only put out approx. 6-7 watts measured on my Aeroflex 3920B, the RX sensitivity is on par with other chinese radios. There are some false advertising stating the radio is capable of more than 128 memories. I could not get more than that programmed. There was another article stating the radio could be "jailbroken" to accept 700/800/900 mhz and 220. I tried this and found that the radio is deaf on RX except for 220 which is slightly better, but the radio will only put out 5. watts on these bands, plus you would need at different antenna to cover the range. As a note, I do have a Motorola APX-8000 which admittedly looks very similar.
