It’s just astonishing to me that this movie was considered a box office failure in its day and got lukewarm reviews. This is the best musical comedy of all time and my family watches it every Christmas Eve.

Danny got so good with a sword during training that his fencing teacher had to act as a bowel Rathbourne double in the scene because Basil couldn’t keep up

Danny Kaye was a wonderful actor and performer who has never really been recognized for his work. I enjoyed watching his films when I was young and it's sad that they have fallen by the wayside, but creators like yourself have not forgotten.

Basil was champion swordman and taught Danny. Danny practiced hard and got so good that Basil said himself if they got in a real sword fight Danny could take him(before this Danny never knew how to use a sword)

I remember, the pellet with the poison is in the vessel with the pestle, the chalice from the palace had the brew that is true.😂😂😂
