Well done and VERY thorough review. I can't think of a single thing you missed. Thanks John!

Are these kits, actually a kit, still in production? Tamiya has an habit of discontinuing a kit when modelers discover what a gem the subject matter is. Hopefully Academy reissues it when Tamiya is done with it.
@oddball759mm10 сағат бұрын
Not sure about the current status but these were in almost constant priduction for decades. I doubt academy will copy this one as they moved away from the copy cat tactics decades ago too. However it’s also not needed because these things were made in the millions and finding one is very easy and affordable

Amazing work! But your prices are way too high. Which i understand, you did the model work, print, and shipping. You should include an option to buy the files for those of us that already own resin printers.

Thanks but I will never sell the files for any of my models. I like having control over the quality of the final prints and to curb piracy of my items

United products Corporation and Ideal Toys Corporation had 135scale Walker Bulldogs a little bit before Tamiya but they tended to lean towards toys than models. I believe Glencoe models has the tooling for the 135 and 115 scale Bulldogs. Occasionally, they reissue the 115 scale version. It is ideal for motorization, remote control, even radio control. If you write Glencoe, he might have some left in stock. 26:37

I have somewhat of a solution to the ice buildup on the drive. Before you run the tank in freezing cold leave it outside until it cools to the ambient temperature. This makes the snow less likely to turn into sticky slush and ice on the tank and more likely to just blow off. This works best when it’s a couple degrees below freezing outside

My question! Why no ball bearing system on the long shafts of the steel gearbox, because of the massive weight of the metal parts such as the drive wheel and the chains? I did this on my Leopard so that the heavy weight is not on the drive shaft and gearbox.. I'm currently building the Challenger 2, T-72 ERA and the T-90 RC tanks at the same time. I installed a ball bearing in all of them before I replaced the drive wheel!
@oddball759mm10 күн бұрын
The load of the sprockets and wheels even in metal are not heavy to the point where the bearings are necessary. I never seen there being an issue without in the years of running these things. IMO they are not mandatory but are a nice addition. So much so that I’m working on a hl rebuild now that has these units and I like them a lot to the point where I will be using them on future builds
@daviddruxius84969 күн бұрын
@@oddball759mm That sounds good, but it's worth adding as it doesn't cost much and protects the gearbox! . Good conversion on the T-90 @Oddball 759mm 👍👍👍👍👍

What generation of Tamiya Jagdpanther do you prefer? I feel there are good facets to both. How about kibashing both generations into one ultra-detailed prototype? 2:35:54
@oddball759mm11 күн бұрын
The 2nd gen is by far better in every way. As for kitbashing the two that’s just not something that is worth it as there are plenty of super detailed jagdpather kits that are on the market that fulfill that role

If you were building this kit for yourself, how long do you think it would take to assemble? In your opinion, how did the pre assembled/pre painted Dragon kit look? 11:52
@oddball759mm22 күн бұрын
In a perfect world and I have nothing else to do I can get one wrapped in about 2 months possible sooner if I have all the parts on hand / casted. The pre built tank was ok I guess for a shelf display but I have little interest in a pre built model like that for my collection. And I prefer to have something that is more detail accurate for my collection

There should be renewed interest in the Bradley since the Pentagon Wars was proven wrong by Ukraine’s highly successful use (they want more) of this multipurpose vehicle- even a documented kill of a modern T90 Russian tank with just the Bradley’s 25mm chain gun. I wonder what the color scheme of the Bradleys in Ukraine are?
@oddball759mm22 күн бұрын
The pentagon wars movie was proven wrong with the 2 Iraq wars prior, as for ukie camo there are plenty of pics online of them with a digital block camo and there are some new tooling kits that are representing the ukie variants

The T-90 autoloader is similar to the T-72, but one of the major changes is a tweaking of the inside radius and detail arrangement to allow it to stow and feed the longer rods of the early 2000s.

Is there a massive gap between the upper and lower hulls after you join them together? The sides have about an inch gap above where the wheels and tracks are. Or are there parts missing from my kit?
@oddball759mm25 күн бұрын
There are no sponsons that come with the kit. This was common on Tamiya kits for a long time. The gap is not to the point where you can see through the other side. Which was why on my builds I fabricate the sponsons out of sheet plastic as I did on this one here
@JamesMackenzie-sx2bu26 күн бұрын
Yes they are nice tracks - metal, plastic and now 3D. But enjoy putting together? Like painting tyres x 64. However what tracks end up being seen - especially after any dust and or mud. With side skirts the exposure to view is about 7% As you said these tracks add £30 - £40 to the kit!!! I hate AM! Even the old Tamiya elastic tracks are just fine
@oddball759mm26 күн бұрын
