Personally, I hate all these glaring monitors because they inevitably lead to severe eyestrain, and the lack of eye-saving monitors to choose from is simply appalling. There are only four manufacturers of e-ink/e-paper monitors. So be my guest, if you want extreme eye fatigue, continue using these horrible blue-light generating ultra-bright monitors.

That was nice to watch and very interesting. Don't you use any Adobe RGB capable monitors ?? I'm just about to buy a new MacBook Pro and a good monitor. I'm using a Nikon D850 taking mainly RAW file shots. A Epson A3+ printer is next on my list. Should I go for the BenQ PD or the SW series ?? ...?? Carl / Fraser Coast

Hey, thank you for the question. I generally don't use Adobe RGB to view or edit my images, I retouch in 16 bit Prophoto colorspace, and I get great results doing so on P3 displays. I switch to sRGB just to control final exports and see if there are any artefacts etc. As for the PD vs SW series - I don't know. I can only share what I personally use and the PD work great for me, but I don't know the differences. Note to myself: Look it up! ;) PS: Love my D850. I don't use it often anymore since I moved to the Z9 a while ago, but the 850 is still one of the best DSLR cameras ever made. Enjoy!

Excuse me while I vomit. A former photographer who used to have some credibility is now using other artists copyrighted work and calling it his own. Pretty sad. Anyone who doesn't think that's how AI works is either childishly naive or their ethics have been corrupted by social media narcissistic craving for favs or likes. AI scours the internet looking for bits and pieces of the work of some unsuspecting artist or model who haven't given their consent to their image being stolen. That's why the US Copyright Office has refused to allow AI works to be copyrighted and that's why ChatGPT, Midjourney and all the other software companies are being sued. You're also deceiving yourself if you think there's any skill or creativity involved in using a few lines of text to have an app compile a Frankenstein conglomeration of other artists' work. Sooner or later all the people who have been fooled into complimenting your posts will be wise to this deception. The question is: do you want to be known as someone with real talent or a washed-up cheat addicted to social media approval, who tries to make people think they still have talent? I suggest if there's anyone still on the fence about the origin of the data used to train generative AI, they should read this. Interesting how all the gullible pro-AI fraudsters claim this doesn't happen. "Mark Zuckerberg confirmed in his earnings call for Meta’s fourth quarter results what we have long suspected. Meta is using our Instagram images to train its AI data set." "AI-gen companies such as Midjourney, OpenAI and Stability AI [ ... ] have openly admitted to scraping data from all corners of the internet, including copyrighted images hosted on private sites." www.diyphotography.net/zuckerberg-admits-that-they-use-your-instagram-photos-to-train-their-ai/

… quite the essay. There’s certainly a level of truth to the “ai learn from existing content” part, if this however infringes copyrights can be debated. I walk past images, posters, shapes and colors every day and am heavily influenced, without copying or stealing. In any case - I’m glad you found my channel and I appreciate your time watching and commenting!

Not ALL AI uses copyrighted work..... AI sharpening steals nothing!
@StephanBollinger7 ай бұрын
To a certain point, all AI had to "learn" and, hence, been fed examples, millions of them. So there will always be a level of "where is it coming from" debate. Reality, however, is: No matter what people think (or better "feel"), Ai is not going away and will only become more powerful. It is up to each of us to decide how we'll use it. Those who don't like it may scream or even throw a good tantrum, but it won't change anything. As much as I enjoy the time-savings of routine work thanks to AI and the many new creative options I have in my arsenal, I am also cautious and understand the danger of it all-deep fakes are a good example. At what point will we all use AI to uncover other AI-created materials? Who knows, but teachers around the world already use tools to determine whether handed-in essays are actually written by the student or a clever algorithm. It's everywhere; I only wish my next AI-powered washing machine will load, wash, dry, sort and fold my laundry while I'm on the beach sipping cocktails... End of my essay. Now back to work ;)
@tomfreda71077 ай бұрын
@@rioosodog Red herring. Using AI to enhance one's own work (ie sharpening or noise) is absolutely NOT the same as using it to make a completely new image based on other peoples' work. One still relies on an ability to make something from the creative process of a human mind, the other requires no creativity at all, and instead employs a machine to steal existing work to make a frankenstein facsimile of human art.
@tomfreda71077 ай бұрын
@@StephanBollinger You're missing the whole point of objections to AI. There's a massive difference between being influenced by someone's work and outright plagiarism. How about googling "art reference" in copyright law to get some facts on the difference? Otherwise, you're simply falling victim to the AI tech companies' disinformation campaign designed to save them from having to pay licencing fees.

When it comes to social media, I'm more interested in learning more and mastering photography and socials overwhelm me. It's a lot to work in to my already business schedule. Something I've having an issue with is MUAs and Models who are not as knowledgeable or confident in what they know. Is there something you could recommend that would help with that?
@StephanBollinger9 ай бұрын
Yes indeed, the "clubhouse days" were quite amazing. As for your question - it's difficult to answer. I personally always surrounded myself with talent who I perceived as "better" than me, but that generally comes at a cost. In the beginning, you might not be able to pay for the right team, so you have to deal with whomever is willing to collaborate for free. This can turn out amazing, or not so great. If at all possible, hire someone whos work you admire, and who will help you to elevate your own work. Money well invested.

@StephanBollinger8 ай бұрын
thank you, glad it was helpful. You can always shoot with just 1 light, having 3 gives you the freedom to light the background independent from the subject, having 5 would give you some extra rim lights, 7 would break the bank, 9 and you'd be … you get the idea. Of course having more is nice, but 90% of my portfolio work is done (or could be done) with just one light.

i have question, Can you clarify how T0.1 is represented with HSS? I don't understand very well I can understand that the lower the power, the higher the freezing speed, but in the dark, if the HSS is bright, how does t0.1 and HSS appear?
@dance2jam10 ай бұрын
I'm back Stephan with a different question now. Purchased my first strobe 2 weeks ago. I noticed in this shoot, you're using the 1200 versions. So, question: In a controlled environment (i.e. studio), to get a low t0.1 flash duration, you need to use lower power, but (as you point out in your example) to make sure you sharp and frozen - higher f/stop. Two questions here. One for strobe and one in general. STROBE question: What is the benefit/or downside of using one more powerful flash *1200ws vs. two less powerful strobes (600 ws) other than you then need two modifiers and stands). Second question: Since you are starting with a black frame - do you lock focus with greater DOF - and then shoot, or leave the camera in AF-C - which seems more difficult even with subject detection eye AF - in low light. Thanks!
@StephanBollinger8 ай бұрын
Good to hear from you. I use the 1200 or more powerful strobes to use them at 1/2 or 1/4 power, which - as you mentioned - shortens the flash duration. When I need to push a 300 w strobe to the max, and a 600 to half power, I can get 1/4 power on a 1200, and with it a faster t.01 value. Not to forget using softboxes or bouncing the light, which of course also reduces the actual light on the subject. Long story short - you can make it work with whatever you have, but if possible use more power at lower settings to get more speed.
@dance2jam8 ай бұрын
@@StephanBollinger Understood. Thanks for that answer. As for the AF question? Pre-focus with small f-stop and shoot (i.e. AF-S) or track with AF-C (which seems more risky. Thanks again.
