@@cletusclugg347 are you still in the Bahamas. if it's not too much of a hassle I would like to meet up with you. I currently live in North Dakota. but lived on love Hill for years I grew up there. The two-story yellow shop with Red roof is my Grandpas lol. He passed away in 1999. My grandmother lives there now.

@@24hourdealership98 No I have not lived on Andros since 1992. Been a long time. I have visited. My new adventure is taking people there with bicycles and riding from Behring Point to Red Bays and Nichols Town. Takes about 6 days with only 2 long days. Everyone I have taken on this bike trip loves it. I live in Melbourne, FL. Wow North Dakota. That is a temp difference in the winter months. If you are ever in Melbourne give me a shout. My next bike trip is maybe Feb 2024. Have not been to Andros since 2020, just before Covid.

Thanks for posting this! I was there from ‘84 to ‘87 when it was run by RCA then GE - and I don’t remember beach parties like that! It must have gotten better after GE lost the contract. Great memories though. I always think back fondly to my years at AUTEC. I met and worked with some of the best people back then (all of them were characters, of course).

I was communications leader at the project. An employee of RCA, the first operating and maint. contractor, 1966-1972. You have no idea what that was like. BT (before TV). Many fond memories. Land crabs are delish, Natives wonderful people. You have turned it into a resort. Shame on you.

William, the name Gaver Powers might ring a bell with you. My first two summers after HS graduation, 66 and 67 were spent working at AUTEC. In 1966 RCA put me up at the Lighthouse Hotel. The day I got upgraded to an air conditioned room a lighting bolt hit the main generator so no more AC till the day I left to start college. That summer I worked as a clerk typist in the Command and Control building. There was an on strike 727 airline pilot flying heliocouriers and would frequently buzz the building on his return. Pappa Gay’s at Fresh Creek was a spot to go in the evenings. 1967 I worked in the warehouse as a shipping and receiving clerk. I along w 3 Florida Atlantic Ocean Engineering students stayed in one of the barracks. Mess hall was a stone’s throw. Great food. My dad sent a 3 hp outboard motor and my roommates and I built a diving raft out of barrels, lumber, plywood and kept it over at the anchorage. Amazing experience. Gaver was a long time family friend and lived down the street from us.
