I still think that medium term, having the super heavy land on a drone ship with expendable upper stage (hydrolox) would be better. I'd expect some 170 tons to LEO with super-heavy reuse, which would make Moon mission in one go possible (2 people with lander and shielding).

Humans have power? or more like a subset of humans like thr west has. As you can see there is most of the world and than there is europe and america in science (to some extent east asia). Most of the world population if somehow just magically gone would't cause much of the fuss. Very scary thought I know but kinda true.

Thanks, great video. I worked at a factory as shipping/receiving quality control and the machined faces of the oil-sealing surface of the powder gear case of about 3% of parts would have bubble of porosity in the wrong spot. The parts were 40 mm thick so it was a significant loss for the company, had to switch suppliers.

The nuclear waste is quite inert glass, those mines are water soluble salts. Very different. Won't leach at scale of 500 years.
@s2tenglish
@s2tenglish 3 күн бұрын
you are missing the point 1st water cuts through everthing on long enough time scale including mountains do u realy thing glass will last as long as need for containment ? why do u think we need "sites" to safe gard it ? from water and HUMAN for 100's of year that is the fucked up part asking out future to clean shit & safe gard it so we dont fuck up there world . You really think we will PAY for all of that and it will be a cheap power source compared to solar or wind or geothermal or tidal or bio gas or HVDC interconnect and a safer world where u not have The Three Mile Island, Chernobyl, and Fukushima not even a remote possibility . if u say we know better know remember we though so back then too . Human nature is short term any shit that cant be managed in this "short" timeframe will be left abandoned if its not profitable it will be abandoned . HISTORY taught us that part well or keep saying nuclear will solve all our problem same as we though OIL will or bair the pain of few imperfect solution which becomes perfect in combination

@@s2tenglish I think that you're view is biased because you originate from India. At least in Europe, we do things differently. Plenty of 1000 year odl castles around me. Also been to dry cask storage, 40 years of rain and not trace of problems. I have 2000 year old glass shards in my collection, didn't dissolve after 2000 years of mud. And the fuel is not toxic in human time scale after 2000 years unless you rly eat it.

Standardisation on many commonly used tool like washing machine fridge ac table fans LED lights phone chargers basically anything that has reached saturation. This will make it easier to fix things if all fridges have the core components standardized then it will be alot less wasteful.

That manhole cover is total nonsense. No way to couple 66 km/s to a steel plate over a few meters without it turning into x-ray plasma. 66 km/s is the gas speed 10 m away from the Trinity device. Also, the pressure on the cap from air compression would be 50 kbar - like a prolonged industrial explosive - it would shatter immediately. Also, Concorde had very high profit margins - you underestimate how many rich people are there, the end of Concorde had unrelated reasons.

I know that is why I said "orbital" not "ORBIT" meaning if U want U can use nuke boom to reach orbital velocity . PS trust me every one has watched Debunking the Nuclear-Powered Manhole Cover kzbin.info/www/bejne/o5_XlZemgZ2Ygac

@@s2tenglish If it would be possible to impart 66 km/s to steel with nukes we would see cab and tower steel framents flying everywhere with nuclear high speed photography. Nothing like this has ever been observed. You'd need to transfer 500 tons worth of TNT eq. to the manhole cover over a tenth of milisecond, the resulting iron plasma would glow with soft x-rays.

Weuird bias against nuclear. First, the spent fuel is truly dangerous for only 1000 years and it's in the form of glass. Any water leaching will happen too slowly for it to make the water posionous at the surface. Also, think pyramids and old 5000 year old ceramic.

@@s2tenglish You're thinking India. Europe is different. I've been to the dry cask storage in Dukovany. 40 years of waste there under rain with 0 leaching, radioactivity out in the open. Easy to imagine it being OK for just some 1000 years 500 m deep in the form of glass. Several almost 1000 yo castles around me still in good shape.
@nehorlavazapalka

hell, the entire core inventory of 3 reactors in Fukushima is in form of soluble salts, effectively out in the open and still the leaching is minimal (it's managed but still)
