And no, the gender swap and making the main characters queer doesn't make any sense at all, they all get married and have children. Making queer side charcters made more sense. And wr have had queer romances in Bridgerton....so why make the main couples queer? Benedict is bi now? And im expected to root for this guy to marry a virgin maid? If anything, i felt disgusted and had to fastforward that week long threesome

THIS! Whenever people try and overexplain Colin annoys me, because they're just grasping and guessing and overanalyzing "oh in this scene he sighed and looked at Anthony this way thats how you know" . We are not shown anything. Its a show, it should be apparent. I inderstood Simon and Anthony because we were SHOWN their struggles and their pasts. Colin played a side character in his own season. He's my favorite Bridgerton and i was so excited for his season, now im just eternally disappointed and not even excited for the next season.

I honestly didnt even feel this was a friends to lovers trope, we dont even know mich about their friendship, we're only told they're friends. You see them interact once or twice at a ball or event in S1 and 2 and thats literally it, so what friendship? He leaves for months abroad and they write letters, thats about it. I was hoping we'd see how their friendship began or other moments or flashbacks of them actually playing together, or spending time together. So i still dont understand how it's friends to lovers when they just looked "friendly" not necessarily close.

My concern about this movie is where did she get the money to open up this flower shop. Also none of the flowers had price tags on them there was no for sale signs on none of the flowers for her grand opening nobody was there. The ending made no sense that she would get back with her first love. I was actually hoping that her husband and her would get counseling and maybe she can start to heal and forgive and then get divorced.

Even though I love Ugly Betty, I’m so tired of shows and movies acting like a beautiful girl is ugly just because she wears glasses, braces, isn’t a size 2, and wears clothes that aren’t stylish.

I’m so glad you had so many of the same points that I was talking to my husband about, but also it was wild to me that they used cherry by Lana Del Rey rather than one of her other songs that are about domestic violence, such as ultraviolence or born to die or 13 beaches or young and beautiful (with the atlas meeting) idk, which I guess some would be on the nose But it’s better on the nose than being disjointed in my opinion… the outfits made me want to cry the dialog was disjointed the chemistry was off the book wasn’t good but the movie actually took away a lot of stuff in the book that I thought made the story flow better 🤦🏾‍♀️ it was 2 hours of nothing soup and mostly montages so it felt like the runtime was wasted

i love this video but i don't think the newer contexts for the DV scene makes louis an aggressor. I see a lot of people hold this opinion but why do we forget that louis was being abused, emotionally and even got into his relationship with lestat through manipulation and dubious consent? Lestat even admitted at the trail that louis did what he did because Lestat put hands on Claudia. did louis use lestat insecurities yes but that doesn't make him an aggressor in a relationship where he always had the lesser power, because remember lestat didn't teach louis anything other than reading minds and moving fast so he was alway the more powerful one in the relationship. I just feel its not really correct to say that when victims (which we all agree that louis was) fight back their abusers then they are also an aggressor. and i say this because you end up saying that both of them are problematic (which for claudia they are) but in the Lestat-louis dynamic louis is a victim just not a perfect one and its harder for us to realize this because claudia is a perfect victim.

I thinks it makes much sense for her to be a manipulator, because she doesn’t have a personality, though I doubt that’s what Collins intented

On the point of the availability of roses: wild roses are pretty hardy, and definitely available in the region of District 12. With the covey regularly going beyond the fences of 12 to forage, fish and swim, it's entirely probable-- even likely-- that they'd have access.

Dr. Gaul replaces the more wholesome feminine influences on his life by positioning herself as both a guide and someone who boosts his ego, but she does so in very callous and unsympathetic ways. Therefore, he both clings to her approval and respects her power.

Nervous laughter, over laughing, or joking/laughing at inappropriate times can be a trauma response intended to diffuse others and to hide one’s own nervousness and fears. I’m so surprised that so many misunderstood that part of Lilly’s character. If I remember correctly she wasn’t like that with the old boyfriend, her mother, or new bff, but she definitely like that around Ryle.

I love watching your videos but this really disappointed me. Thinking that Eloise should be queer because she fits into the stereotype you have is not cool at all. You just have a hard time handling a quiet and feminine lesbian because you have this very wrong view of what a lesbian should be like. It would’ve made no more sense for Eloise to be lesbian than for Francesca to be a lesbian. “It would be more natural and more logical choice”Not even trying to hide it😕 You want them to make a queer storyline that “would make sense” but I want to know what kind of storyline would this be? Also the way you call queer representation “shock value” really bugs me. You want a slow paced plot and that’s okay but you should never talk like that about lesbians again. You have a homophobic mindset regarding lesbians and that’s disgusting. Perhaps consider being more open minded instead of leaning into stereotypes that straight people made up. You were disrespectful and your world view is old. You were always very inspiring to me because I also want to study law so it’s unfortunate to find how you think about lesbians as I’m a lesbian myself. I wasn’t expecting this from you Deborah.

[SPOILERS] I DO care about the gender swap, and not because I have an issue against lesbians, but because Francesca was content as a widow, and the only thing that changes her mind about marrying again is the fact that she wants to have children. She loved her husband so much that she had a hard time accepting that she wants to marry again. Also, Michael is very conflicted because he is replacing his cousin in everything (title, name, responsibilities, with Francesca...) and you have to be a man to inherit, so they also did Michaela dirty because she won't have this arc.

Society hates outspoken women, especially when they’re a person of color. When Cynthia reacted to the fan edit, I had to take a step back and reflect. As a member of the alabaster disaster brigade, I don’t know what it’s like to be a Black woman being constantly compared to white beauty standards. Cynthia mentioned in interviews that she never thought she’d be chosen to be Elphaba. She thought people would call her ugly & think she’s not good enough before even getting to hear her. Cynthia was surprised & touched that the new poster showed her face & that was the main focus. When Cynthia saw the fan edit blacking out her face to look more like the original, it triggered a wound for her that she didn’t expect. I’ve been in love with Idina’s Elphaba for decades & Cynthia paid tribute to her while making the character her own in a really powerful way. I was overwhelmed & deeply moved. I’m immensely grateful Cynthia was chosen. I hate that the UK erased her from the ads & promo. I hope people respect her moving forward. I can’t wait to see what she does next.

The wildest things that came out of the prequel is 1 lots of women thought he was super hot. 2 The 'I can fix him' girlies. 3 People thinking that Snow was the 'hero' and us not watching how he became the cold blooded twisted executioner. 4 The men that watched it and said "I get it man, he got his heart broken!" I didn't NEED to read the books to understand that Snow was not always bad. But it was there. He was molded into a monster by his own choices. He was about possession and looks from day one. All this gave us was to prove Snow is a weak man deep down, insecure, and NEEDS control.

It's really refreshing to hear someone else say how clunky and awkward and just kind of bad the dialogue was in the beginning of the movie. I wanted to like it so much, but I agree it also got a lot better as it went on with the more serious scenes. It was so beautifully shot, the colors were absolutely incredible. But yeah, that beginning dialogue felt like it was a homework assignment turned in late or something 😅

I feel like it starting out more like a rom-com was on purpose, to let the audience fall in love with them as a couple. Because if the audience does not see why Lily falls for him, then they will never empathize with why it's hard for her to leave him, which is a really important part of telling a story like this. That being said, the beginning was my least favorite part because of the dialogue and everyone interrupting each other and the fast edits and it just all felt crazy 😅

The one thing I can say about the two different styles of acting in two different worlds, is I do feel like that may have been on purpose. Blake was acting as though she was in a rom-com because her character does not know that things are going to get dark. She is just flirting and having fun and dating as anyone would in real life or a rom-com. But I completely agree the dialogue is so beyond clunky, and so much of it made no sense

This sort of downplays a lot of what the fandom was doing...we need to just admit that some times the public, including the fans, are toxic and do not know how to engage with this stuff in a healthy manner that respects themselves as well as the actors. Some fans need to be reprimanded. If people feel that is entitlement, oh well. Cynthia is one award away from being an EGOT. She is the reason that this show can claim to have an Oscar nominated actress in the lead role.

All this aside, she was absolutely brilliant in the movie. Wonderful portrayal of the character, amazing singing voice, and I really appreciated her advocating for practical effects for Elphaba’s skin. I know this movie was tough to film for the leads in particular, and the defensiveness definitely stemmed in part from how hard she worked.

I was so so disappointed. I’m hoping it’s just her realization that she is actually bi and not a full on affair. But her immediately stumbling on her words the way her mother did was 🙄 how about her connecting with her mother with the loss of her husband and learning to accept another love afterwards.

To me, it made sense that she turned out to be gay. I was either that or asexual. In my head It was never a love story, it was a story about friendship and comradery between two people who didn't fit in and I'm niffed about people hating on that, saying its not good enough. Besides, Fran is 18 not 30, and new experiences dosen't stop happening just because you got married.

The whole thing makes me feel so conflicted because on the one hand, the only thing I knew about her before the drama was "she's the new Elphaba" and nothing else, so the drama was basically like my first introduction to her, and it did NOT make a good first impression (especially since I'm half-Black and would be much more sympathetic if she were talking about some of the racist lash back from her getting the role rather than complaining about a relatively harmless fan edit). So it felt like hearing "there's a new up and coming celebrity in town!" and you go "oh cool!" and then they make a dramatic entrance by spitting in some random person's face. Generally not a good look. But on the other hand, I really did love her performance after watching the movie. Like, not only is it cool to see a Black woman become the face for such an iconic character and star in what might be this year's biggest blockbuster, but she is an incredible actress and singer, and was one of my favorite parts of the movie. She basically blew it out of the park, so my impression of her as an artist is very high! But as a person? Not the most positive. So it all just feels like a bit of a mess.
