Thank you for sharing this ! its like being transported back to the days at the Varsity theatre when i used to see Michael perform regularly. His slow deep music would transport the listener too and Michael really is the soul master of his unique style. Seeing and hearing him was like... if Leonardo Davinci played and reinvented the guitar before your eyes! We miss him.

I have been learning Silent Anticipations (aka Death By Guitar) from some imperfect tabs and this video helps bring it all together. Great camera angle that captures the nuances of his technique and rhythm as the song builds. Fantastic early version. Thanks for posting!

All the best in learning Silent Anticipations !! 💟MH: freedom v frustration · energy was in the air · This next tune is one that i did write in Enid quite sometime ago (1973); and it was the first idea that i had to do a guitar solo. It’s quite raucous. It was kinda like sitting on the porch watching the tornado come our way into town so i call it “Silent Anticipations.” · even more percussive + involves a lot of harmonics

Yes, Neil Young + David Crosby + CSN were among his inspirations. MH commenting on his gigging while studying at the Peabody Conservancy in Baltimore(1975-80)➡ I would play four or five Neil Young songs in a row. I had the hair and the flannel shirt to match. In Brazil, the movie is titled "The Sound of the Heart.” 💟 'Ritual Dance' by Michael Hedges is a highlight of the film. Michael’s dear friend. David Crosby recommended 'Ritual Dance' be one of the songs that August performs in the film. 🗞Young actor looked to Enid native for inspiration in ‘August Rush' role: ”There was this guy called Michael Hedges, actually, that we looked at a bit,” said Highmore, 14. "He played in that style, that sort of slapping style.”
