I started flying with this game back in 2002 just practicing but the game was pretty difficult until I bought 2010. I bought the game Microsoft flight simulator 2002 as real as it gets. It was really easy. I flew almost around the world and a 747. It was unreal.

It’s just absolutely incredible how well 3D could be faked with raycasting and the other variant but less processing the bsp engine could be,just amezing what can be done with such alternative solutions for it,

God nostalgic moment here. My dad downloaded this for me. I remember first time I was terrified. Then my dad found cheats which I know was cheesy. But I had fun. I was about 10 when I played quake

Today, I played this game as you did in this video, no source ports or any type of mod. I don't have major problems with the gameplay, the only exception is that I can't hear the music, is it necessary to have the cd in the driver?
@nick15uk
@nick15uk Жыл бұрын
The music was stored on the original disc and therefore is required for playback. You could probably pick it up for cheap from eBay?
@fernandoandres3117
@fernandoandres3117 Жыл бұрын
@@nick15uk I see. Two years ago I bought from ebay one of the box versions released for PC in 1997. Since today, I wanted to experiment how different is by playing without sourceports (always used QuakeSpasmSpiked). I have been surprised that the game works perfectly in windows 10. The thing is that I don't want the cd to wear out because I want to keep it as a collectible. Pretty sure that they are very cheap on ebay. What I didn't know either was that the cd was required to hear the music. If that's the case then is very similar to the retail versions of Half-Life and its first expansion, since they don't require the cd to play but it does for hearing the entire soundtrack while playing.

I'm not gonna lie, this game actually gave me nightmares as a kid... well, every FPS game did, I wasn't fond of monsters getting in my face. Thankfully I outgrew that fear as I got older, but man that was a harrowing experience growing up.

I remember being blown away by seeing this in 1996. Also it was the first FPS game where we used the mouse to look around, which was another hallelujah moment. Plus the multiplayer server mode introduced a new era.

This game really immersed you in another world, much more so than the sequels (as good as they were). If Id gives us another big Quake release, they should really bring back this element. They could still probably work in the Strogg and the arena.

I just beat Doom Eternal for my first time, it was quite an experience but it didn't feel that special because I grew up with modern game graphics. I figured id check out the history of FPS games and its really impressive what they were able to do back in the 90s, I'm kind of jealous. I couldn't imagine how it felt to experience this stuff for the first time. Getting a PC game must of felt like a treasure back then, nowadays it all feels the same.

Maybe games stop evolving, but now there is one game that can give you the experience that "Quake" in 1996 could have created. This game is "Half-Life: Alyx" and all the innovations can be experienced on Valve's VR helmet "Valve Index". Perhaps expensive, but a computer for "Quake" in those years was also not cheap.

Been there, done that and I gotta say - I really appreciate taht I had that chance, because current games still awe me. Doom Eternal was absolutely amazing, I was blown away. Yes, graphics aren't progressing as fast as they used to nowdays, but it still amazes me what people can do these days. Quake 1 was a blast and a breakthrough, but the real deal was Quake 2. Oh man, the moment I realised my bullets are changing the textures on the enemies, making them look like they've been shot... That was so REAL! :D
