If you're ever able to come back to do this entire podcast on the Rite, that would be amazing.

I am very frustrated because I love your videos on Le Sacre du Printemps - my favorite piece of music - but I can't seem to get past 'The Dance of the Adolecents'... all my searches come up short... how can I watch the rest? btw your comment that the piece can not be truly understood as purely a piece of music and not as a ballet is so spot on... when I discovered the '100 Ans' video that attempts to recreate the original performance my eyes were opened and that is how I always experience it now. There is even a section where the ballet troupe strikes the floor. in time.. something that is missing from the score, apparently...

These Stravinsky videos were some of the first I made at a point when I was experimenting with posting videos about pieces in the standard repertoire. I had to drop the project when the Boston Symphony hired me to make videos for them; I just didn't have the time. Sorry.

I loved your telling of the story of this most exciting piece! Would love to hear your analysis and thoughts on other great pieces too.

It's good to be reminded of just how difficult it was for a Frenchman to approach the symphony in the late 19th century. Would you say that without this work, Franck would not have composed his own symphony three years later?

Excellent presentation! Which performance do you use in the background, which sounds particularly muscular and powerful? The introduction sounds for all the world like Furtwängler, slow and full of mystery. But the remainder sounds faster than he would ordinarily take it (and of course with better sound). Would greatly appreciate it if you could elucidate its provenance.

I'm sorry to say that I don't recall, as this video was produced a couple of years ago. Wish I could help.
