Mass doesn't drive people away. The lack of instruction drives people away. Many people leave because they disagree with Church teachings that they only know through the news. The Church does not instruct adults so adults have a very distorted view of Church teachings. This applies to both conservative and liberal Catholics. I vote for Sunday school. Sunday school promotes community and, most importantly, teaches.

And the miracle at the wedding in Canna is known not just by church tradition but by Holy scripture. But nonetheless I agree Jesus upheld marriage as not just good but divine!
