There is no need to switch off main because there is no way to back feed the panel. Why are you typing all caps? 😂 is this a real or a rhetorical question?

Ok..here goes nothing. First let me start off by thanking you and your team for your transparency it goes along way now a days. Also for your service to our great country. That aside....my question is this. I connected this device to my switch at my furnace (red to black wire(hot line) white wire neutural(to neutral line white) white wire load(to white wire coming from furnace) black load wire (to black wire coming from furnace). The 3 ground wires were joined together. I closed the cover flipped my breaker to power up the device . Flipped device to Normal, to my surprise the switch would not power up my furnace. I removed the EZ switch cover checked for voltage at the red and white wire with a multimeter and was getting 119 volts AC. For the life of me i could not figure out why the switch was not powering on my furnace or my thermostat. Any feed back would be greatly appreciated. Otherwise this EZ device will be getting shipped back to Amazon. Thanks again. God Bless!

Uhh.....What about the line neutral now? Why not do a COMPLETE installation so you can actually show people what you are doing. I actually bought the switch and it still doesn't make sense. Even the instructions are poorly written. Everyone in comments is asking the same thing. And you make several videos.... and none of them do a complete installation.... leaving people hanging. I might as well do the "normal" install" and use a bonded neutral plug.

things have changed with this company. wires are not pre skinned, and 2 of the wires are not labeled. You also have to use a qr code to get the instructions. I also had to secure two of the clips that were barely hanging on to the switch itself. Seems this veteran owned company has taken on the same lower standards as the military itself which is why i and alot of my friends got out.

Can you confirm the bonded neutrals setup for a Bluetti AC300. It has a floating neutral - but can also be plugged into the home outlet for optional grid charging (not sure if grid charging matters). Second question - if I have two of these EZ units would I wire the same way - or is one connection of the source neutrals sufficient and others would use a switched neutral? Thanks

Thanks for this video. This is great but.... I've been told that we must never have 2 ground either as it may cause a ground loop. So the ground off the generator is carried to the transfer switch, which is also tied to the ground of the main panel. But even if the transfer switch does disconnect the neutral, the neutral could still be connected through the generator via the ground. My new generator is bounded. So I'm not sure what to do now with this ground issue.

Typically you would only hook this to what one breaker was running. I however used these to run two breakers per one EZ switch. Of course I did this just for lights and outlets. For items on a circuit that use a lot of watts you might just want to run that one breaker on an EZ switch. I installed 3 of the EZ switches. Running 5 different circuit breakers.

Your demonstration is great except I have a forth wire in my circuit to the furnace. So apparently the furnace and some other load share the neutral wire in this circuit. The hot for the furnace is on a single 15amp breaker and the other hot I’m not sure of. Will your ez generator switch work on this circuit somehow?

250.34 Portable and Vehicle-Mounted Generators. (A) Portable Generators. The frame of a portable generator shall not be required to be connected to a grounding electrode as defined in 250.52 for a system supplied by the generator under the following conditions: (1) The generator supplies only equipment mounted on the generator, cord-and-plug-connected equipment through receptacles mounted on the generator, or both, and (2) The normally non-current-carrying metal parts of equipment and the equipment grounding conductor terminals of the receptacles are connected to the generator frame.

Hi! Did you miss-speak at time index 2mins 48s ? After the conversion, is this transfer switch ready for a bonded or floating neutral generator? If normal line power is on and the EZ switch is left in the on position will the exposed terminals be energized?
@johnsteed99
@johnsteed99 10 ай бұрын
No. Normal line power cannot get to the exposed terminals. They are on opposite sides of the 3 way switch. When switch is in Generator mode, the generator terminals go to the furnace, not the normal line power. When switch is in Normal mode, the normal line power goes to the furnace, but not to the exposed terminals ever.

Hey Kevin, quick question does that EZ Generator Switch works or compatible with Storm Responder 8250 Generator? I have basic knowledge about electricals because I'm a Mechanical Engr. so do you think I can DIY this myself? Secondly, what's gonna happen when the generator is on and then suddenly the main power backs on? Do I have to manually switch off the EZ Switch? or it will automatically off itself. And where can I grab this EZ Switch Generator? Thanks a lot!👍

What I need to know is where does the single white wire coming from the EZ switch then go? Do you just wire-nut the line white, the load white and the EZ switch white together? That seems odd because the EZ switch is designed to isolate the generator wiring completely from grid power through the selector switch (Normal, off, Generator). Having the whites all together is throwing me off…
@southplank
@southplank 11 ай бұрын
With a floating neutral generator, you be 100% isolating the generator. All the whites will be tied together. So your single white wire will join with the other furnace whites. You will only be using half the switch. Furnace will go to the center switch terminal. Line and generator will be the outer terminals and the switch will toggle to one or the other while the whites stay connected. Alternatively wire the transfer switch as delivered and use a neutral bonding plug in the other generator outlet.
@southplank
@southplank 11 ай бұрын
I meant to say with a floating neutral generator you won't be 100% isolating because all the whites will be always tied together. But this is the safe way to do it.
@StagArmslower
@StagArmslower 11 ай бұрын
@@southplank I would prefer to keep original wiring and use the bonding plug because I can totally disconnect furnace from the main panel for safety reasons by placing the rocker switch in the middle position, and also for using another generator connected to main panel from outside as additional backup. I have battery bank with floating neutral and second 2500 watts gen which would power the furnace by extension cord connected to pass- through receptacle. I can use bonding plug on all power equipment even when 5500 watts generator is used with the extension cord only (not the whole house connection)
@southplank
@southplank 11 ай бұрын
@@StagArmslower Sounds like a good plan. I would have gone the bonding plug route but the switch arrived (different brand) and a storm was coming the next day. I had 3 wire + ground cable available in my junk pile so that worked for rewiring the switch without going out for supplies.

The last home I looked at where they wanted to heat their home off of a generator during power outage, the gas furnance had a male cord end plugged into a standard recepticle. I told them to just use an extension cord direct from the generator. Since most home owners panels are recessed in a sheetrock wall, I find it easier to install a recepticle next to the furnace and put a male cord on the unit.

I have your product and am currently (pun intended) installing it onto my oil burner. I am planning on using an Ecoflow Delta Pro to power the furnace. The outlets on the Ecoflow have floating neutrals (both legs are hot at about 60v), so I assume I'm to configure your switch for floating neutral? For those who have an Ecoflow Delta Pro, please be aware that when plugged into AC for charging, the outlets become BONDED NUETRALS. Correct me if I'm wrong, but this shouldn't be an issue using this switch because if you're charging the battery from AC, then you've got power coming into the house and your EZ transfer switch is off anyway. But in other situations, you can create a double bond scenario.
