May i please ask you a question. Are there any kosen school near Tokyo that i can train at? I am a Jiu-Jitsu black who likes judo, and I thought it would be cool to visit a kosen judo school while i am in Tokyo

@GATAMEJudo2 ай бұрын
You can watch Newaza in the longer version of Gatame Kosen Judo tournament videos. By the way most of the competitors compete with IJF Judo rules normally. I hope they adjust with our Kosen Judo rules.

Please keep sharing Kosen Judo tournoments. This style should be more popular. Perhaps do a video on the rules.

I used hadaka-jime in real-life fights. It is extremely effective - use it for your self-defense.

Kosen ? What are the differences with regular Kodokan judo ? I see none...
@GATAMEJudo8 ай бұрын
They fight in original Judo rule sets like no MATE in Newaza. A lot of Newaza techniques has created from Kosen Judo.

IMO a greco wrestler would kick the ass of almost any no gi judoka; also, with gi, a judoka would kick the greco wrestler's ass

That was really good. I really like the pressure game you play. I’m a BJJ brown belt and I’ve been trying to adopt that judo-like top game lately, just pressuring non stop. Been watching a lot of Travis Stevens and kosen judo videos.
@gundamviewer17 Жыл бұрын
So basically Greco-Roman wrestling match ?
@javiervanterpool9249 Жыл бұрын
Something I've noticed is that judo without gi is basically wrestling
@user-ki4xw2rb8q7 ай бұрын
No it's not, there's no trips in greco and there's no leg attacks like in freestyle. Also, you have submissions in Judo. That changes everything. It could still be considered like a new type of wrestling but with different rule sets.

Thanks sensei for this KZbin channel, you remind me of Koji Komuro sensei who was active in BJJ tournaments with his signature Mizuno judogi. How did you find Kosen judo vs BJJ? Yesterday i had a chat with my judo sensei, he is a japanese, he told me that in Japan people just think BJJ and Judo Newaza is he same thing.
@Karen-fs6lf7 ай бұрын
Was it be classified as a uda gurami was the arm bent or straight ?
@tichtran6645 ай бұрын
Except there is no leg locks or leg grap in judo.
@kevionrogers26055 ай бұрын
@tichtran664 they are but not in current IJF rules. An analogy would be American NCAA Folkstyle Wrestling vs International Freestyle Wrestling or Greco-Roman Wrestling. They are the same sport, but the international rules differ from the national rules, so there is differences in optimal technique and strategies. Kosen Judo is the rules used by Japanese Universities, so it is still Judo, but the rules are different from Kodokan Judo rules, which are different from IJF rules. Thus, while you wouldn't do a kata guruma in current IJF rules it is still done in other rule sets and is still in the curriculum.
