Shit bro that there looks like a Chelsea 489 but there shims to mesh the gear. Guess if u check your backlash an it's good a homemade shim should be ok

Often when you reseat the connector and the code issue disappears the problem hasn't been eliminated. What you have is a floating connection, sometimes it makes contact and sometimes it doesn't. The female socket is loose and by reseating it your problem is momentarily fixed. I'd replace the female sockets at least to make sure the code doesn't return. If the connector looks as good as that one I'd probably have my tech replace the sensor too. Some sensors start breaking down and develop intermittent issues. When someone says they have a ghost code that comes and goes, this is exactly what you are dealing with, there are no ghosts. DTC's can only be cleared with a Scan tool on DDEC. I wished I could find a way to clear them otherwise. I manage an Allison transmission shop sending techs out and we can clear them on the shifter. We've been running into more DDEC engine electrical problems we can help on and we want to help all we can. Some might think it sounds like a parts replacer mentality. A bill will be $1,000.00 to $1,500.00 easily and if we have to go back we'll have to cut the invoice to be fair. The worst of it is that we'll be called on the same code they had before. We don't like that. The cost of the sensor is minimal in the big picture. I apologize for the short story.

This video could really screw somebody up that is looking for advice. Just about everything stated on here is wrong. The two gaskets on the cover are shims that you stack up to get the correct preload on the bearing. The same goes for the gasket between the pto and the transmission you need to stack gaskets to set the backlash for the gears. Do everyone a favor and delete this video.

Um sorry I don't know what school you go to but that PTO needs to be shimmed to mesh the gear properly! You cant just make it out of paper gaskets!
@Djhollywoodnorth
@Djhollywoodnorth 7 жыл бұрын
Good Video, but this PTO is not from an Allison Trans, it doesn't have helical gears or a 6 or 10 bolt pattern. neither is it a clutch shift which is required on 90% of Allison transmissions. It also has 2 gaskets on the bearing cap as it is a tapered bearing that requires you to set a pre load by adding/removing gaskets.
