I worked in silicon valley from the 80s and the big layoffs hit the 90s. Very soon after Cyber crimes went up drastically and I concluded it was because of the massive layoffs which silicon valley never had before. There are a lot of talented software engineers that are laid off and they do this to get back at the system that laid them off. You don't have to be a rocket scientist to figure that out.

@@byronoh8857 you’re exactly right. And the evidence is starting to mount. Between affected tech workers and disgruntled staff the environment is primed for these attacks. Thank you for you comment

I heard about them.Unless its fiction.But similar perhaps to the cult that the famous perfume model from Russia or Ukraine was in prior to her jumping or being thrown from NY highrise.I cant recall her name right off the top of my head.So..its a book.Looks great.I will try to find it.

Excellent.I am in the very process of figuring out( finally) after 6 months of googling etc.a complex scam involving LDS,USDA FSA, identity theft( in this case my moms) payments to at least 2 addresses that dont even exist with the county, direct ownership loans,deed upon death transfer, charitable Trust ,joint agreememt and a charitable organization which is operating in WA,at least at my moms 2 parcels, but are registered out of state, and maybe more than one state.So..secretary of state, county,etc.say they cant find anything without the name of the organization.Evidently,knowing that they are operating at a certain address ( because I dont know its name) is not sufficient.Interstingly, this guy got a piece of mail recently about a data breach..northwestern mutual life insurance policy owners.Which,I suspect is a group life ins.policy that includes my mom( through the insurable interest that has been established by id theft,forgery etc.) I sent foia to state usda fsa office,but they wont release jack to me ,due to i requested no disclosure to the dude.So financial information would be off the table.Which is naturally,that which I seek.Law enforcement isnt interested.I sent complaint to inspector general.no response.etc .

Pretty sure the feds use a similar technique when tracking darkwed users
@MuddyWatersScamBuster3 ай бұрын
Pretty sure you're correct on this. I watched a few videos on the Dark Web last night, one suggested exactly this tracking method. Good insight, thank you.

2 factor authentication is not the end all, as it can be spoofed and hacked as well, mostly done through clever social engineering.

Agreed for sure. It's one of many security steps that alone may not protect us, but combined have a high likelihood of doing so. Thanks for your comment!

The software company has indicated they're going to pay the ransom FYI. So important that companies perform regular backups and store them independently from their network.

I got a question does the person have to be near you to gain remote access or be anywhere
@MuddyWatersScamBuster4 ай бұрын
This is a great question. They have to be near enough to the WiFi network you’re on to be able to join it. Think Starbucks and restaurant public WiFi networks.

To my knowledge, you can only access updates from their website through September 29. Am I incorrect?

I get those calls sometimes. I keep saying could you repeat that please and they get furious. They say 'Are you joking with me' I hear them say that all the time when I watch Kitboga or Scammer Payback. Anyways ..Like your show. Peace.

Great to hear from you, and glad to hear you are having a little fun at the scammer's expense. Time is money for them, wasting their time means another potential victim isn't being contacted - and it's just really satisfying and fun:) Thanks for checking out my channel and stay safe.

@@MuddyWatersScamBuster When I found out about the Pig butchering scam where they kidnap victims and force them to scam people, I was furious. I wrote my congressman and suggested a raid on the compound in Cambodia. Some real bad actors. hard to believe they're getting away with this.

Yes it is unbelievable, and due to corruption, economic instability and infighting it may not be something that gets pursued any time soon, unfortunately.

And the more often you dumb boomers yell Amen on AI generated posts on facebook, the more the scammers will have your name. Do yourselves a favor, boomers, retire from the internet. the technology has finally left you all in the dust. For your own good, stay off social media, and stop giving scammers a direct line to reach you.
@MuddyWatersScamBuster4 ай бұрын
This is sound advice. As a Boomer myself, I think we have two choices - severely limit to eliminate what we do on the web (and to your point) how much information about ourselves we make available - OR - stay highly informed on cyber threats so we don't fall victim.
