I don't get it. Rather then play my Nest Hello Video, Google assistant will instead search and play a video of Nest Hello. How did you set this up?
@MrStevec19836 жыл бұрын
The Nest Hello is only rated for -10C how has it held up so far in the cold. I live in Canada and the temps in the winter can fall well below -10C
@MrStevec19836 жыл бұрын
Ok, so I just installed mine the other day. I'm very impressed. I was worried about temperature. In the specs for the Hello it states that the operating temp threshold is -10C. I live in a climate where we get cold winters dropping well below -20C at times. After installing the doorbell and playing around with the settings I found that it displays the internal temperature. I'm assuming that is the temperature that you don't want to drop below -10C. The other night was around -12C and the internal temp was 23C. Overall I'm very impressed with the Hello and would definitely recommend. I've had nothing but issues with the Ring. Horrible video quality due to over compression.

Any lag or studdering issues? I have the Ring 2 and it's horrible

How much of a video delay is there with your Nest cams? When I use my Google Home to view my Arlo cameras there is about a 12-second delay from live action to display on my TV, whereas on the Arlo app the delay is merely a half-second.

niceeee , tempted to buy mine from home depot, but if I just wait until next week I'll get mine with a free google home mini
@Liamjarviss6 жыл бұрын
I got a free google home from Home Depot, they prices matched nest.com. So I don't see why you couldn't do the same :)

I currently have the Ring Pro and have it wired directly into the transformer (no chime). Can I do the same with the Nest Hello? Use it without a chime? Thanks
@MrStevec19836 жыл бұрын
Kamran Siddiqi it looks crystal clear. Way better than Ring garbage
@nadeyt6 жыл бұрын
Does the google home work like a chime if someone rings the nest hello? They showed that feature when they announced nest hello, I'm wondering if its already working for you
@Liamjarviss6 жыл бұрын
No, I've not heard anything coming from the home yet
@nadeyt6 жыл бұрын
hmm okay, I guess it's another "comming soon" feature, lol

I wondered about this. I wasn't aware they had actually done a demo of it. Perhaps more options will be forthcoming. For now I was kind of surprised that the only option seemed to be a conventional wired doorbell setup. I don't actually have one but looking into it don't see it as a particular problem other than adding some expense and hassle for something I don't actually need. At least the expense doesn't seem too great. I would have thought they'd have a POE option or at the very least a power only option with the ability to chime through Home and Home Mini or even Chromecast/Chromecast-Audio units. Perhaps that creates too much of a time-delay problem?

I don't have a wired doorbell and use the Google home as the "chime". Works great

How do you own the device already? I thought its going to start shipping 15th or something
@Liamjarviss6 жыл бұрын
I got it early at home depot, they had it on the store shelves. Almost every home depot has some now I think
@nadeyt6 жыл бұрын
That's great! I'll probably have to wait another few months, since the device isn't even available for preorder here in Germany..

This is exactly what I wanted to know. Do u have Android TV or just a cast enabled TV?
@Liamjarviss6 жыл бұрын
The Symbol of Peace I have just a chrome cast and Apple TV. I can also view the cameras through Apple TV

Liamjarviss Ok thanks for the reply. It should work on Android TV then

It's interesting the 'Hello' unit seems to take longer to load. I wonder if that is particular to it or because it loaded first and so the subsequent cameras are taking advantage of the fact the player is already active on the Chromecast.
@Liamjarviss6 жыл бұрын
The Hello seems to take longer no matter what is what I found. I don't know if it has to do with it not getting as much power as a normal Nest cam that's plugged into the wall.
@thelastmike6 жыл бұрын
Thanks very much for getting back with that. It's kind of a disappointing outcome as it seems to take nearly twice as long to load up. At least for my own personal use. Perhaps a firmware update might bring it line though too.
@Liamjarviss6 жыл бұрын
I sent them a twitter message and I some questions about the software. They said that the product isn't officially released yet and once it does come out, more features will become available. So maybe it will be faster to load over a software update. Here is what they said me to via twitter: "The Nest Hello has not been released yet so our Nest app does not have all of the functionality for the Nest Hello at this time as this software hasn't been pushed to the app yet.... however until the Nest Hello is officially launched in the coming weeks, the Nest Hello may be limited as to what it can do through the Nest app."
@thelastmike6 жыл бұрын
That seems a little boilerplate on their part. But I suppose that is more than fair given it is only just rounding the corner of actually launching. I would not guess the delay is to do with lower voltage. I'm hopeful it can be better optimized via software. I'm kind of on the fence between the regular outdoor cam and this Hello doorbell model. For me the startup time is somewhat significant. I don't tend to carry my phone around at home but I do have several Chromecasts setup around the house and multiple Home or Home Mini units. Taking around 10 seconds to launch rather than about 5 is a definite ding for me.

Thanks for being one of first to post something for nest hello, can't wait for mine to come in. Video is way better then August
