I worry about some of these Stewmac videos. I'd never do this to one of my guitars

Need to take a plastic toothpick and run them next to each fret on both sides to get that dirt n grease stripe next to each fret

When do you use a regular levelling beam vs an under-string leveler?
@gigmandrew89757 сағат бұрын
I would have taken the fret out and radiused it to fit the fretboard

Having owned many amazing high end, boutique guitars. Nothing compares, sound wise, to my 1891 Martin parlor model 2-17, with light steel strings and drop tuned one whole step. It’s the same model Mark Twain owned.😊

I love you guys. This was great. Please don’t ever stop making awesome videos.

Great video. With LMI no longer in business, do you have an alternate resource for these Rosewood-esque handles? Having a helluva time finding anything similar online. Cheers!

Wash your hands and wipe your guitar down once in a while. Nothing worse than watching somebody play and their guitar is broadcasting greasy streaks from food or who knows what

It was still moving after it was glued. Is that the trademark of stewmac?
@Somelights_NLКүн бұрын
Yes, it needs to be glued normally but the notch on the hammer isn't needed.

Or once the solder has cooled just level and recrown 😅

Call me a perfectionist, but frets aren't properly polished until you've used a dremel, buffing wheel, and flitz compound. Now that combo will get you some mirroresque frets!

a quartz inlay could be nice, i used to like walking in streams near gold fields that were all quartz

It shouold be mentioned that Deoxit D5 dissolves damping grease. That makes some pots very loose, e.g. the pots on Fender Rumble bass amps.

You can really just use any kind of liquid super glue?
@emilloffler1216Күн бұрын
This was very well explained and it definitely seems to be what I have to do to My Fender Stratocastor to give me a lower, more comfortable string height action. Taking the saddles all the way down does not lower the action enough, and I get dead notes high up after the 14th fret when I do that. So, I have ordered a set of genuine Maple shims from Temu which I believe are cheaper than Stewmac.

With ebony, it is not much of an issue, but CA glue will darken most woods, making it obvious where you've filled a void with sawdust. PVA will not.

The string rubs only on the very top and slightly top behind. Naturally, that area remains clean. So the real question is how polishing improves that part of the surface and how long whatever improvement there is lasts. I'm guessing not long.

I use an epiphone prophecy lp, 12-54 gage strings on standard tuning, what's a good string height for this setup?
