Protip: Instead of replacing the condenser, you can actually shove your fingers in there and undent it if you push hard enough. It ends up looking damn good too, pretty much brand new.

THANK YOU!!! I don't have the exact same Belkin charger, a different one, but I used your technique and found two similarly shorted power filtering capacitors. Mine were 50,000 ohm though not 3 ohm. But after replacing them, the whole unit works again!

Basically if you tighten all the screws, it should be fine. But do it on your own risk. Only one grub screw is fixing the camera holder onto the motor shaft. I would maybe not use it this way

it doesn't look like a bad camera (the picture is actually quite sharp), more like bad lighting or even bad settings. reflections are not camera's problem.

Is it working system-wide with all apps supporting 3D mouses? FreeCAD, Orca, Fusion, ... or is it the compatibility limited?

It works with all the systems taht are controlled by mouse and keyboard commands. You only have to change these commands in the code for different apps. Now I am working on the V3 which is true 6DoF already and communicates with the original 3DConnexion software :)

@@kikihobbyrepair ok so it's a mouse+keyboard emulator. This means that, for example, FreeCAD 1.0 will use the current cursor position as center of the rotation, while with my super old SpacePilot the object rotates irrespective of the position of the mouse. Good you are working on a compatibility layer with 3dconnexion drivers, that would be a huge step forward. Are you already aware that they changed the approach sometime around 10.5.6 and FreeCAD 1.0 will not accept anymore devices not supported by this newer (well 6 years old or so) drivers? If you emulate an old SpacePilot or similar (which is easy) you will not get support in OnShape (and browser apps in general) and FreeCAD. Ideally you could emulate a SpaceNavigator (the puck), which is supported until the second to last version of the drivers, and also by spacenavd (linux drivers), so it might be easier and more future-proof. Good luck!

Great info and analysis! It is sad to see they used a common ground like this and it explains why the dual stations can not have both tips touching same metal without thermal control going nuts. That is why I went for two separate single ST-1509 stations.

Brilliant. My sensor was still soldered to the board, but bent out of shape at about 60 degrees. Straightened that little guy out and now I'm good 15 mins later! Thank you!

That's strange.... The sensor you did find should not be so bad. IMX185 is not bad sensor - it has 1/1.9" format and 3.75 x 3.75 μm pixel size, which should be especially helpful in low light... and like IMX290 it has 2Mpx count as well. "The IMX185-MIPI-M12 is equipped with Sony diagonal high sensitivity, low dark current 8.58 mm CMOS solidstate image sensor IMX185. This camera outputs RAW data."

I am just learning Fusion 360 for 3D printing. This project looks perfect for me. I know the space mouse does not work with Apple, does this? Also can it be assembled for right hand users?

Kiki, I just made the space rat mouse and got it working on the first boot! I used a USB C micro and a small prototype board. With the usb C i did not need to solder on the cable to the micro. I also used a slightly longer micro switch. I am going to look at your macro pad next. I printed the parts on a Bamabu Labs A1 mini with no issues.

Hello. It works with all the softwares thatvare using keyboard and mouse commands. But the code or Inventor keyboard commands must be changed accordingly.

So the term you are looking for is dynamic range. Each sensors has a certain amount of ~f stops or dynamic range meaning how much/little light is needed to produce a viable image.

Oh my god! That looks worse than my $30 usb microscope camera! By the way, I've been experimenting with arducam type image sensors to make a diy microscope camera. I have a setup coming tomorrow that is less than $50USD for 8mp/2k camera sensor and 8x-100x lens. For some reason arducam type pcb cameras went up greatly in price on amazon but you can still find deals from time to time. I will try to update with the results in a video.

Great video, I had an issue with the left click button where i needed to push really hard or it wouldnt drag properly etc. I noticed that the top button was slightly depressed than the right button so took it apart, applied some nail polish coats to add layers, top buttons are now perfectly balanced and it works great now! I also used the contact cleaner and compressed air (spotted some dust bunnies near the wheel inside) to just ensure nothing else would come up for another year at the least.
