I have been wanting wooden shutters inside my house for decades. If I can make one, then I will make eight more for our small cottage style home. Thanks.

An alternative to dowels would be to use pop rivets (without using a rivet gun) instead of dowels. Small hole on one side and slightly larger hole on the other and then you have a metal pin holding the slats.

Welder by trade and know how unforgiving wood projects can be. I've been wanting to make my own shutters for home and searching sources. Wood projects quite honestly scare me. What an awsome dispay of craftsmanship with common tools. I'm excited to try your method. Super cool. Thanks for video.

@@simsdiy perfect! thank you ever so much ^_^ Could I please ask the same question of the particular "flat end screws' you used to create tension for the middle louvres? I've bought everything and I'm intent on attempting to follow your video soon. It's by far the best video I've seen which shows a truly 'do it yourself ' way to save a fortune on shutters. You're a star! (wish me luck 🤞lol)

Beautiful job! Instead of wooden dowels for the louvers I used 3/16 complete rivets. I put the nail side in the louvers and the larger end into the frame. Glue the small end. And leave the smaller end free to glide open/closed.
