That was simply marvellous and as someone who only spent less than a couple of weeks in 2008 driving around and staying in northern Alabama, along long straight highways flanked by enormous grass verges, it brought back very happy memories. I have a London/Essex accent and speak rather slowly, but your lovely welcoming natives generally understood me and seemed to like my voice and especially the fact that I'd chosen your state for my all too brief visits. I'd love to return one day and hear those calming voices again.

I had the book. I carried with me from apartment to apartment to apartment. I shared it with some close friends too. I somehow lost it, but boy do I remember it. Such talent. TRUE Talent.

One thing is for sure, larry langford was right. We didnt turn sloss into a productive place, and now we are a very culturally enlightened group of unemployed people. Seriously. Birmingham has next to no good jobs relative to its population.

The American way, take advantage of others with a smile on your face, pretending to care and help- then exploit them. That is precisely what was done to the women of Gees Bend. The American way. Shameful!!! The precious women, I am so sorry they ALL took advantage of you!!!

I don't want anyone to explain this to me. I just want to be quiet and let the quilts speak for themselves. To have this humility......

Dude I live in Chicago. IDK how I got here, but I'm grateful 😂 all we have for our PBS is the kids shows (Arthur's my sh*t) and WTTW, which is über boring. This is like a fever dream party, my favorite kind

🙏These courageous women are beacons of light in these turbulent days and times. Their lives are a living testament to the power of faith. No matter what noise and foolishness goes on in this country they are living their lives as they always have. Tucked away in their homeland living on sacred land that they worked, they toiled, they walk by faith. They are more than quilters they are world renowned artists. Tears I wipe from my eyes watching this story that is being told to the world. Thank you so much for all you've done to bring their story out. Gees Bend Women may God bless you all. ❤😇🙏

I was gifted one of the Gee's Bend quilt from my sister Helen. I treasure this gift of art because it is truly beautiful and it is an example of being wrapped in love, despite the struggles the sun came through. Testimonies through quilts. To God be the Glory.
