I’ve been playing my Sadowsky JH Signature exclusively since 2004. It was one of the first to come out of the shop. I placed an order before the word was even out that Roger/Jim were collaborating. First thing Roger said to me was, “How’d you find out about this?” Ha Honestly I can’t remember now, but I placed an order in 2003. Took 6-8 months if I’m remembering right. It’s an exceptional instrument. Sad to hear Roger is done making archtops.

Wow! That’s so cool. Which finish did you get it in?
@seanvine39
@seanvine39 2 ай бұрын
@@GreyJazz90at the time, there was only one finish available, and that’s the original JH reddish kind of a finish. Lots of flame in the maple. And it’s still my favorite archtop. I have an L5 and I’d take the JH evey time.

I bought a dozen D'andrea picks, the ones shaped like Jazz iii. I love the sound and the feel, it's just what I want. The problem is that they deform easily, even without using them.

I’ve heard about this issue from others as well. It’s unfortunate because they are such great sounding picks.

Thank you! I like to use the slowdown feature in KZbin to hear the lines slowly, then I just go phrase by phrase. Try to experiment with where it feels best to play the phrase on the neck too. I’ll try and upload my transcription of this solo in TAB format soon and break it down!

Parker has these kind of mannerisms, I've only transcribed his solo from Perhaps and got so far in trying to transcribe one of his solos on Chi-Chi and just kind of gave up, should get back to it. But even just from that I'm starting to recognise some of his mannerisms, ways he seamlessly creates these lines dancing around the changes. I def want to get back to it.

Hi Ian, how much does the thickness of the strings influence the execution of the exercise?
@GreyJazz90
@GreyJazz90 11 ай бұрын
Hi, while lighter strings will certainly help, these exercises should still be doable on most guitars. I use 9.5's or 10's on most of my guitars, but also have a couple strung up with 11's and 12's and don't have an issue playing legato lines on them. As long as the strings aren't super heavy you should be ok!
